Maybe he really struggles with the weight? he couldnt make 9st 7lbs in 2008 and that was with the aid of nutritionists etc via GB, so I would imagine 9 years on making welter might be tough?

I dont know how much sport science he has access to with his training, (nutritionist, strength conditioning) and then if he does have access to this while he is training does he apply these lessons out of camp? Eg not blowing up between fights.

Diet and nutrition can play a massive part in mental fitness. I know when I go on diets I get very down about things, and these guys do this to the extreme sometimes.

To be honest though, he's had every advantage and if he were seriously struggling with the weight there would have been advice and guidance given to him; he looks as though he's comfortable at welter - he's not ripped to the bone and if he moved up to light middle he'd get manhandled.

I'm not down on him; he seems a really decent man and I enjoy watching him box; whatever's gone wrong it's a shame really but be has the time to come good and get some good scalps.

The biggest problem Frankie has is people expecting him to be as good a pro as he was an amateur, when he hasn't looked close really. People can't accept it so they find reasons he hasn't hit the heights yet, its just not happening. Simple as that.

That being said, I'm sure Eddie will manouver him to a shot down the line, I wouldn't want that to be against Brook though tbh.

I also had Gavin losing to Skeete - thought Skeete landed the cleaner punches throughout but it was a close run thing so no qualms about Gavin getting the nod.

However, I think the fact that he struggled so much with Skeete and lost to Bundu (who in turn was outclassed by Thurman who never got out of second gear in that fight) shows that he's found his level.

He shouldn't be looking so soft but at the same moving down in weight isn't going to miraculously make him a better boxer. He is what he and although I still think he has a fine career ahead of him, I can't see him ever being competitive with the best at welterweight.
