Sklar wrote:The amount of training boxers do is irrelevant in this context. Millions of people go for a run before work and go to the gym when they've finished work every day of the week, and maybe do a competitive 10k road race on a Sunday or play rugby on a Saturday or whatever. In most cases the term 'professional boxer' is more misleading to the man on the street than semi-pro is. Ask a Joe Blogger what he thinks an average pro boxer earns and I would bet a lot of money on him being at least 5000% out.
Very correct about what the average man thinks a pro earns. When I tell people at work I fought a 100 times. Most ask what the F im doing with a paint brush in my hand. I'd say less than half a % earn anything like good money from it

Looking at it from that arguement, a guy working full time in a warehouse on minimum wage will clear a grand take home pay per month.
a boxer can train every day and get a fight per month (if they are lucky, and a journeyman obviously) yet probably walk away with closer to £600.
Those who can only get a couple of fights per year have zero chance of surviving on that.

I know MMA fighters Lewis "The Foot" Long and Marley Swindells are both in the competition. The first event is this Wednesday. Backing the foot to go all the way!

I only know 3 fighters on the card
Lewis Long who has represented Wales in the Thai boxing world games twice and has medaled. He's also 9-3 in pro MMA. He regularly spars with Liam Williams and the boys at team Lockett.
Marley Swindells, pro MMA fighter from Swansea.
Artem Kotov, pro MMA fighter from the ukrain but lives in Southampton.
