Both were domestic fights and Reid a name. Carl was a lot older 8 long years ago than George is now. You could spin it the other way and say when George was barely into his 20's and still a novice he drew more to The O2 than the Dodson and Reid fights put together, but I won't.

Degale was there too. And let's not pretend that people turned out purely for George, it was against Degale more than owt else.

Exactly, thousands of tickets for domestic level fights. Eight long years ago on a cold Friday night in lowly Nottingham.
George Groves comes off the biggest fight in British history - and sells less... in the capital city.
Carl was a lot older, he turned professional much older than Groves - and when he KTFO Groves he was a relatively old and battleworn 36 too. Fancy that ?

DeGale talked me out of buying that PPV. I was going to, but then he behaved in such a douchey way I decided he wasn't worth my money.

I actually quite like Young Muttley.
But, I think, Floyd vs Pac wouldn't have changed my mind. James DeGale was such an unbearable cretin in that build up, I just couldn't bring myself to pay for it. Had he toned it down, I probably would've got it. It's one of those times that pre-fight 'banter' has actually gone wrong. In that it's stopped me from buying a fight I would've done got beforehand.

It looks like The Cobra has beaten the intelligence out of Groves!
It's amazing, but we now have an almost complete role reversal.
James DeGale used to be a massive wazzock & has now grown up into a man, whereas as Groves, although confident, seemed quite mature & rational, yet now, he seems to have morphed into a massive tit!

Good marketing opportunity to get both Dirrell brothers over on the same night with Groves & DeGale looking to make a unification bout in summer if successful. Shame about Anthony taking his voluntary in the States.

Personally I see it like this:
If Groves fights Degale now and losses. Where on earth does he go from there.
But if he fights Dirrell and loses, he will still have the Degale fight to fall back on.
George may come accross as a massive Belle** and will always lose the war of words, but he isn't stupid.

Groves rejecting the Degale fight despite it being a no brainer when compared to trying to chase Dirrrell who will likely mess him about is more to do with not wanting to work with fast car then anything else.
As I keep saying Eddie can't get the business done on these big fights even when they appear to make perfect sense for the other camp.
Some people may come on here an say I don't know what I'm talking about but facts are facts...
No Degale - Groves, no khan- Brook, no Frampton - Quigg...and I no some of those fighters are tikes up but Eddie can't even get them to negotiate with him which I find pretty alarming personally..
It's hard to make big fights but Eddie us supposed to be a big time promoter not fat Mick..
there's not even Gradovich - Selby fight confirmed yet....
And whilst I'm At it even Froch has fcuked Eddie off recently...there's is no way Edfie wanted anything to do with Chavez..he definately in my mind had Froch - Degale PPV planned in his head until Carl told him to do one and had him chasing a hopeless negotiable with US big boys like Al Haymon..
