I kinda enjoyed the first episode of Haymon's new reality TV boxing show, but I don't know why really 'cos the fights were kinda shite. Kudos to Robert Guerrero's chin & t̶h̶e̶ ̶n̶e̶w̶ ̶K̶e̶r̶m̶i̶t̶ ̶C̶i̶n̶t̶r̶o̶n̶ Keith Thurman.

The main event consisted of an athletically gifted guy who looked like he took up boxing six months ago leaping in & out whilst pot-shotting the world's clumsiest southpaw, who only looked like he accepted the reality of the situation & went looking for a win in the last two rounds.

I skipped the Broner fight, if I wanted to see someone I hate beat up journeymen I'd go back & watch Andre Berto's championship reign.

I think the so-called genius that is Al Harmon dropped a clanger by putting someone as unlikeable as Adrian Broner on as his big opening act. What a disaster.

Not only is he completely unlikeable, but he's ultra weird looking, with that constant smug smirking expression, a boring B level Floyd wannabe style, and the ugliest trunks you'll ever see.
I actually feel sorry for him, because the poor ( mega rich ) dork is so completely unlikable. Al fecked up with that one.

And Thurman is getting pretty predictable these days: he tries to bomb out his opponent spectacularly for one or two rounds, then jabs and moves for the next 10 rounds. Zzzzzzzzzzz

Good cards with good match ups but it was a poor spectacle

Mares-Reyes was the exact same from first to last,Broner looked sharp but coasted and Molina Jr never let nearly enough of his bombs go and as good as Thurman was and as brave as Guerrero was,at least 8 of the rounds were drab

Thurman used the Mayweather blueprint to beat Robert who in turn just plodded along without throwing, same as he did against Floyd

Poo card but can't blame the match ups, you win some, you lose some

It sounds like Guerrero did exactly what he was supposed to do. He's getting pretty good at fighting to the script, since the aberration against berto.

Glad to see I'm not the only one not buying into the Thurman hype. The kid is a fantastic athlete with lovely speed and solid (though over rated power), but not the next star of American boxing. He's been writing cheques his mouth can't cash and pretending the division is scared of him rather than going out and making a statement.

If you want to claim the division is scared you NEED to make a statement every time. Not get booed two fights I'm a row, not coast the championship rounds, and not back up from a guy like Guerrero.

Guerrero fought the wrong fight, and paid for it, it was a bit like watching Paul Butler's effort against Tete, with him following and eating single shots... Until one of the later rounds whem he finally went for it.

Thurman showed he doesn't like being bullied and looks awful when he's on the ropes, no inside game.

As for Broner vs Molina, well that was just a stupid bit of match making I'm afraid. Molina is known for being limited as hell but tough, he showed that again. People might remember the Matthysse fight but the matchmaker should have known about the Lundy and Bey fights, where he was out boxed until his opponent got wreckless.

I think it kinda depends where you sit on how good Thurman is.... For me, I thought he looked good last night, but that's because I'm not really judging him as highly as other folks who think he would walk through anything at 147. He's obviously a massive handful for anyone at 147, but he is definitely vulnerable when he's lunging in or getting overly aggressive. Guerrero didn't really take enough risks and because he's got no head movement or hand speed it really allowed Thurman to plant his feet and do some damage. I feel like if you hit Thurman and keep him out of his rhythm you can draw him into a bit of a fight and he looks much more vulnerable. I'd still pick him over most at 147, but there are some tasty match ups. I'd like to see him against Maidana next, who would come with a lot more intent than Guerrero and knows how to make fighters uncomfortable.

As a fan of Kell Brook, I'd be excited to see that fight if there were a couple of belts on the line too. It would be a dangerous fight for both guys though. I feel like even though most would likely make Thurman the favourite after last night, Kell has the timing, accuracy and power to really get off some clean shots and do some damage of his own. I think depending on the flow of the fight, both guys could get themselves in a lot of trouble in that one, could be a great match up.

Was I dreaming or did I hear the MC say after Thurman-Guerrero it was one of the best fights we're likely to see?

Doesn't bode well for the rest of the series

He certainly did. I cannot agree with his conviction though.

Maidana will be the perfect opponent to test Thurmans mettle.

To be fair to Thurman, he did suffer a massive head swelling early in the fight. I'm sure that must've been extremely painful and mentally tough to overcome but he did.

Brook v Thurman could be a massive breakthrough fight for both fighters.
