The most important thing is Golovkin is active,as long as he keeps fighting and winning then surely the other champs will face him,its frustrating that he hasn't fought a bona fide champ yet,Geale and Murray are good scalps but Cotto is the only one he can beat where he'll get the kudos and that's despite the jury still being out on Miguel as a MW

Lee and Quillin are good fights too but he prob has to move up if he's to get the career defining wins

Then he stops Monroe in round 10 instead of round 3 (see Ouma fight).

Guerrero who lost to Grady Brewer and has nobody better than Vera in the W column is better than Monroe ?
36-year old Konecny whose best win was over Khomitsky 5 years earlier is better than Monroe ?
Don't be ridiculous.

Rosado may be a little better in spite of his poor record, but it's hard to say, because Monroe is untested at the same level as Rosado. However, Rosado is the strongest level of opponent Quillin can afford, as Rosado almost kicked his a$$.
Guerrero may have those eyebrow raising losses but he also has wins over Ishe Smith and Rosado. He is on another level completely than Monroe when he is in shape.

Rosado is a warrior who I wish had better management. Also leagues higher than Monroe.

Say what you like about Konecny (I can't vouch for his level either) but his record says that of his last 5 or 6 opponents before Quillen ALL but one had less than 4 losses. Monroe fought at guy with 35 LOSSES AND ONLY 3 WINS less than a year and a half ago.

Not even a close comparison...

Well, boxrec and other ratings disagree with you. They have Monroe above all three. In particular, 3 out of 4 ABC orgs have him in top 15:

http://www.fightnews.com/rankings-2

while none of the three Quillin's opponents are present there.

You are seriously advancing the argument that because fighters BETTER than Monroe have lost (and subsequently moved down in the rankings as a result of the losses), that means Monroe is better?

That's how rankings work. Until Monroe loses to a crappy fighter like the other guys did, he is not worse than them. Actually, I am not a proponent of solely using rankings when comparing fighters, but you started it.

When did I "start" it?

I said that Quillen's last 3 opponents would all be favored vs Monroe if they fought.

Dont recall using the word "rank" in this thread...

You definitely shouldn't waste your time with me. Use it to learn spelling.

Konecny and Guerrero are proven suckers and would never be approved by HBO. I can only imagine what noise would it cause in forums if GGG was scheduled to fight one of them.

back than you made fun as most people on here about brut, because he was always acting full retard in every mayweather thread, defending floyd about everthing.

now you acting like this about golovkin. everybody does mistakes, why would you defend golovkin when he does one? floyd did a mistake by acting like a scared bi/&h and running away 5 years from pacquiao and it was obvious, with all his 1000000 excuses that he did not 100 % want the fight. now, golovkin does a mistake by fighting garbage in his next fight.

so why is it so hard for you or brut to just be a bit normal judging what your favourite boxer does? i liked pacquiao, still i was able to say that i did like this or that about him, for example when he was doing this animal torture, there is nothing to make an excuse of, yet he was my favourite boxer.

why is it so hard to distinguish for you and brut? so, floyd can hide for 5 years not boxing pac and its okay and the p4p top 5 boxer ggg can box a 'nobody and it is okay?

is it so hard to say:" i like ggg, he is the best fighter, but thats a bullshid move from him."

Because that would be too primitive. You don't know and don't understand his situation, in particular terms of his relations with K2 and HBO, culture he came from, etc.

Speaking about this particular fight, everybody knew that the only realistic choices were Monroe, Turreano Johnson and Heiland. What is all this whining about ? As if Golovkin had better choices but he selected to duck them.

than he should better keave k2 as soon as possible, if i was a top 5 p4p guy and all my promoter can offer me is a cab driver than i start look for a new promotion company.

and stop your crap, you realy start to sound like a complet retard, "You don't know his situation, in particular terms of his relations with K2 and HBO, culture he came"

fu/(king smart arse....even if he had only those chances, its still comes down to being a shit opponent.

Its a serious mismatch,Golovkin a guy with a 90% knockout percentage, fighting Willie Monroe Jr,a guy who been fighting on Friday night fights, who only has 6 knockouts.Another easy knockout for triple g.

I like Monroe jr if he had more power he'd be a much tougher fight for GGG but without out respectful power that combined with his boxing ability [he has that] would stand him in could stead
against the style of someone like GGG who really needs to be backed up with some power shots and fast combos I think unless its Mayweather GGG won't have much problems with a pure boxer like Monroe jr look for GGG to end it by round 7 when Monroe jr slows up from some excellent body work by GGG............. :box:

I'm kinda surprised at the dismissal of Monroe Jr's chances in here, sounds like he won't last a round or something... I've seen him, good speed and movement, slick southpaw good reflexes and instincts, and pressure fighters are tailor made for his style.. this guy is going to go rounds and probably win some of them. Gennady will have to break him down, that takes time. 7th-10th he will get him

It will likely be over before the end of round 4.

It will likely end inside the distance. This guy could tap and move for that long just to survive. We will see soon enough won't we.

It is another good tough match up for Gennady Golovkin when you compare the Willie Monroe match up with Golovkin"s last fight against former British Champion Martin Murray. Murray seemed to just go for it in the first three or rounds and see what happened, because he knew that he sat back and let Golovkin come on to it would only be a matter of time before he got overwhelmed which is what happened. Monroe is a taller fighter than Murray, more lighter on his feet and naturally a backfoot counter puncher.

And is the height, and the backfoot counterpunching nature of Monroe and his better footwork in comparison to Murray which is why I feel its going to take Golovkin at least three or four rounds to figure Monroe out and cut the ring off and apply some 'Mexican' style fighting for him to break down and stop Willie Monroe in the time frame I mentioned in my first post. It will be an interesting fight to watch while it lasts. But Golovkin will have his 20th successive knockout victim.
