Calzaghe got knocked down by a washed up Roy Jones Jr. Froch would be very likely to win at least one round.

Calzaghe whitewashed Lacy, he never did it to a fighter of Froch's calibre.

That was one punch, that's all. He won every other round and by his own admission could've stopped jones had it not been his last fight. He beat Hopkins who went on winning world titles for years.

Froch would likely take a few rounds of anyone, but clearly Calzaghe is a horrible match up for him and he loses wide.... Froch is an obvious p4p top 10 fighter right now though, look at the guys resume.

Calzaghe had a very close fight with Hopkins and a lot of people thought he lost. A few people thought he lost to Kessler as well.

Froch is on Hopkins' and Kessler's level, not on the lower level of Lacy and Jones.

I very much doubt that Calzaghe would win every round against Froch.

Who did? Rubbish. Sorry pal but he beat Kessler comfortably after a close first for rounds and beat Hopkins by AT LEAST two clear points despite the knock down. Anyone that disputes that watched something completely different to me.

Did Joe win every round v Eubank?

As it is hypothetical, when was Joe's prime and when was Carl's?

The best Calzaghe I saw would win pretty wide on points I think, before his hands were a mess Calzaghe hit hard enough to stop any insane onslaught from Carl though Froch has a great chin, (as did Chris Snr).

A large minority thought Hopkins deserved the decision against Calzaghe.

Most people thought the Kessler fight was close and a small minority gave it to Kessler.

He came nowhere near whitewashing either of them, so I don't see why he would be likely to whitewash Froch.

Come now mate. Hopkins fight was close for sure but anyone who thinks Kessler won that fight needs their eyes tested.

I scored both fights for Calzaghe, but others disagree.

Froch lost to a worse version of Kessler than Calzaghe fought and Hopkins would still beat him if they fought now, he's a level below Kessler when both are at their peak and a level below the version of Hopkins that fought Calzaghe. Everything Froch does well Calzaghe could match and he had more to go with that, I agree with Ian, Froch doesn't win a round.

Stujones had it a draw.

Obviously the vast majority gave it to Calzaghe, but not everyone.

I can't see a case for that and a draw isn't a win.

Mugabi thought Haye was robbed against Wlad, so should we treat that fight as if it were extremely close and debatable?

Froch is a consensus top 10 P4P fighter. There's nothing wrong with him being on his list.
If Froch being on that list is at the expense of Andre Ward, then i am afraid your statement is 100% incorrect. You cant have Froch above Ward in any world ratings, either at 168 or p4p.

Hard to have Ward on any list if he hasn't fought for so long, he might be shite now :TU:

Ward's only been out of the ring for 6 months longer than Froch, he's still only 31 and he's been in the gym while he's been out of the ring. He'll be rusty, but I don't think he'll be a different fighter when he comes back.

FROCH p4p nr1 and king of england
ward is a little baby refusing to fight live opponents
unless he can have everything the way he likes it
dudes been inactive riding froch limelight while carl been
on a streak , selling out stadiums and making millions

If ward goes to england and wins the froch rematch with no headbutts i will put him above froch on my p4p not before... real champions can fight on the road without the comfort of home

And i dont buy the whole " andre had a broken hand first fight" bullshit . So why would SoG delay the original fight date due to a little scratch on his billygoat forehead? then jump headfirst into the fight with a broken hand a few months later?? Makes completely no sense

Furthermore andre you rly shouldnt bring your little children to your fights .. i mean come on , how do you expect froch to knock you out when the stadium is empty and the only people there is your wife and kids crying at ringside

I can imagine froch having a hard time in the s6final
But come to UK like froch dared ya to and get knocked out like a diva

I agree with all of that. Froch beat Kessler the second time around but that wasn't the same Kessler that beat Froch in the first fight. Kessler was still useful certainly but not quite the fighter he was. When Calzaghe fought Kessler it was close for the first four or five rounds then Joe pulled away. How anyone can dispute the outcome of that fight I really don't know.

Hopkins is a crafty, clever, awkward sod, always was and still is. He would have to be shot to lose to Froch who is too one dimensional for Hopkins.

Calzaghe was far too quick for Froch. Froch would do as he always does, come forward at the one pace and Calzaghe would just box his head off with fast combinations. Froch doesn't have a thing to trouble Calzaghe. Definitely a level between them.

Yeah, I agree, the only question mark over Kovalev was whether he took a punch, but he answered that against Pascal and barely flinched.

I thought that was an awesome performance by Kovalev. Pascal is a bloody good fighter and Kovalev just bullied him. The only time he looked less than perfect was when chasing the K.O.. When he stopped forcing the issue and boxed he did to Pascal what no-one ever has.

If there's one fighter that Froch needs to avoid its Krusher. Froch has limited defence, limited movement and likes to trade - it'd be a disaster for him.
I see you are already dangling of kovalevs nuts even though all he did was so far was defeat an old hopkins and tko pascal (who lost to hopkins and froch)
How do you see this fight going, i would guess it happens at light heavy when froch avenges the ward stinker and decides to move up to further his legacy
but could happen at catchweight...Don't see kovalev
coming down to 168

I think froch would do a bute on kovalev
test his steel and bring him to deep water
put him on the back foot with sustained attacks
and get the job done

I also feel froch would be a different beast at 175 if he moved up, he seems like he has trimmed down to his lightest weight at 168 ..would like to see him bulk up to 175 and go ultimate supersayan beast mode vs kovalev after ward

Dont even bring up calzaghe as we know froch had joes number and froch was calling him out in his sleep, thats why the slapper retired and vacated his title..he knew froch was his nemesis

The Cobra would walk through Joe's slaps and land his own venomous combinations onto calzaghes jaw section and ribs..calzaghe had virtually no power near the end of his career and would need a baseball bat to keep froch off him

If were talking prime for prime i might have joe as favourite by UD but still give froch a decent chance for the upset 40-60 odds or something in that line

The Calzaghe Hopkins fight was horrible and very close. I had Joe just winning but I was worried at the end of the fight before the scores to be honest. Joe beat Kessler clearly. I don't see how anyone could've made a case for Kessler. Even Kessler knew when the bell went he'd lost. As for Calzaghe Froch, it's a shame it never happened but it's just one of those things. Same way it's a pity Calzaghe wasn't born a few years earlier! I would reckon Joe would've beaten Froch clearly as he is by far the better boxer. If Froch were to defeat Ward though you could really make a strong case for Carl overtaking Joe as our best SuperMiddle.

I rate Calzaghe as much as you do but I think you underrate Froch. The best Froch (Pascal/AA/Bute) could win a couple of rounds Vs Joe and make the fight interesting. If Froch landed clean on Joe, he's doing more damage then when Joe lands clean on Froch.

A more interesting debate, however, is Calzaghe V Ward!

I don't think Calzaghe v Froch would've ended early. I don't think either had the one punch power to stop the other. Similarly Calzaghe v Ward. That would have been one hell of a fight. I think a lot would depend on how Calzaghe approached the fight. Calzaghe was the type who would adjust in-fight if he needed to like against kessler but against Ward he'd have to get his game plan right from the first bell. There is no way he's be able to give away rounds to Andre Ward.

Froch has sufficient power to knock out calzaghe
And it wouldn't have to be with a single punch..wth
