Round in circles this now...
His opponent for me if not Cotto, Bradley, Thurman or Broner is a step back.
Broner and Algeri are blown up lightweights/lightwelters.

Cotto or Thurman are massive fights so play if either of them happen. From a commercial perspective and selling himself in the US, Broner is the bigger fight than Brook, despite it being the much easier fight. So I could even understand if they took that fight.
But if he ends up fighting Algeri....even the most ardent Khan fan must find it hard to defend that selection. A joke fight.

Cotto shouldn't even be mentioned in the conversation. He's a Middleweight these days and he'll probably be looking at Saul Alvarez has his "
target opponent"
Amir wouldn't even be on his radar.

well said Coco, Khan and Brook were near contemporaries as amateurs and Khan was by far the more effective and lauded. It's the same in the pro ranks, Brook is doing really well but needs a couple of years good results to be seen on a par with Khan. If Kell wants Khan he should get Devon or Collazo and do them in style, better than Khan. The Porter bout was very close and Jo Jo Dan isn't a measuring stick at world level.

Interestingly, Khan has not got back in the ring with the two people that Ko'd him -althoguh that could be his promoters wanting to rebuild him, rather than his unwillingness.
If you go down the route of, he needs to beat more people, then it becomes ‘how long’s a piece of string?’.
People forget that Brook’s win against Porter was a very good one. He went to America to do it, and beat a rough, tough, ambitious world champion in his prime and hot off two big wins. That is a great achievement. Kell then boxed a European level fighter in his first defence and wiped the floor with him, re-confirming that he is world class. It’s a fight that would capture the public imagination, would be exciting because of their styles and personalities and generate lots of money. The question is, why wouldn’t Khan want that? I just think that he is waiting for waiting for Mayweather or Pacquaio, and I don’t think he is mad keen on getting in the ring with Brook. He waited for Mayweather before and look where it got him.
The good thing for Kell though, is that the American’s likehis style more that Junior Witter (who was very under appreciated) so he is not pleading with his begging bowl. I think kell can enjoy a proper good and exciting reign as champion.

Brook is world class as he should be having a belt, that belt ought to be defended against other world class men (not just world rated). Bout between Brook and Khan would be excellent and will make both men pots of money. Khan wants to make a big pot of money boxing someone else first and then Brook, I think that shows how confident and comfortable he is boxing at world level. It looks like Brook wants to cash out as soon as he gets the belt, before he gets knocked off.

He has a chance of fighting for the world title for a career-high purse but his team won't enter negotiations.

Or, Khan isn't ready to get in the ring with a big welterweight. If he was as confident as you, why not beat Brook at Wembley for a career-high purse and become champion?

We are for the most part hardend boxing fans and participants of various degrees so why oh why do we enter into this "he's scared to fight him" caper every time a fighter stalls to consider his options or chooses a different path? You gotta be Stevie wonder not to see the size of Khans bollox! His punch resistance is always in question, what is not is his fighting heart and his resume surely shows his willingness to fight top level time and again. And before you jump down my throat at questioning all things Wincobank I think it would be a great tactical match as well as occasion, I just don't think if khan don't take it it's got nowt to do with bottle.

I agree about Khan, he's been there and done it, I don't think he wants the winner of FMJ/Pac for money reasons but to prove himself against the best. Brook isn't after Khan to cash out as its simply a fight against his biggest rival. I think we should just enjoy the fact we have 2 of the top 5 WW's in the world. A dream (but highly unrealistic) scenario would be Floyd beats Pac with ease (so no rematch), Khan beats Bradley, Kell beats Thurman, Khan beats Floyd and Kell beats Pac both in September to set up a mega fight at Wembley next summer that's not only going to decide the No.1 undisputed WW champion but also P4P No.1! Would make Froch v Groves look like a domestic clash.

i wish people would stop going on about khan having faced the best , having been there and done it etc. its a load of crap. when he faced one of the best at lww , he got sparked. ran away up to welter and proceeded to fight a few has been non welters....who significantly ...are light hitters. he is still doing it now by fighting broner, who is def not a welter, and has been exposed bythelikes of maidana and malignaggi. he is obviously ducking brook, who will definately ko him, and is looking to hang around long enough to fight a past it floyd or manny, circling like a vulture waiting to pick up an easy feed.
ive been saying this since the days when he was avoiding the likes of thaxton, and the british title. when he fights a live puncher, he gets ko'd. he knows it, his management know it , and all non khan fans know it. khan wants to be respected , he should be fighting the thurmans and brooks and porters....top, dangerous, rated, genuine prime welters.

x2 very good post.although i like the Broner fight purely because i get to see the build up trash talk, which i'm thinking will be in overdrive and also as i don't like either of them i get to see at least one of my two most disliked fighters lose, ideally i'd like Khan to beat him up bad for 11 rounds and then get caught himself with a sucker punch and get ko'd..

Khan has claimed that Kell is an easy fight for him. He could earn a career-high purse and become one of only 2 welterweight champions yet his team won't enter negotiations. Despite his bravado something is stopping him taking the fight.
Khan claimed on 31 March he would fight Brook at Wembley within 12 months. Is any promoter going to put an outdoor event over winter?
Next summer there are further complications with Euro 16 and a chance that Brook or Khan have lost or are injured.
Both fighters are fit and looking for an opponent for their next fight. Perfect timing, but Khan doesn't want it.

I think that's taking it a bit too far. On here he gets called up for things that he gets away with to the general public.
jimcook makes a good point above about how he always gets credit for going out there and being brave etc but he's never actually gone out and beaten an unbeaten world level fighter. All of his best wins have been against boxers who have lost a couple of times already to good level opposition. He's faced boxers who were considered to be on a similar level to him as well as being undefeated twice and the result was he got sparked twice.
To say that he is being disrespected and that Brook needs a big win to earn his fight is just daft when Brook went to the States to beat an undefeated American world champion.
Khan is yet to do something in boxing that none of his peers have already done. Malignaggi had already been stopped, Alexander had been beaten and the same applies to Kotelnik & Maidana.
Khan is a good fighter, a top 5 lww a couple of years back and he's definitely a top 10 welter now but he has never shown anything special.

So are people saying that on the strength of the porter win Kels resume is better than Khans? And please dont roll out the line out that the beating of Porter has more signifigance because he was unbeaten? It was a terrific result and one that made me proud to be a dee dar but like Mickey says stop pulling wings off flies reguarding Khan, the fellas boxed at world class for a long time. Stop picking holles in his opponents the man has boxed at or around world level for a long time. No doubt some pedantic prick will jump on and say " yeah but not true world class", like that nobhead mexicoo. Like I said before watched kel from a babbi, worked, drank and trained with his uncles and I hope he destroys Khan but ffs leave the character and record assasinations to shite like facebook n twitter.

That wasn't what i was saying. Khan has the more consistent record of fighting a better calibre of opponent but he's not done anything that someone else hasn't already done, good wins though they are. Brook has one win that stands above any single win that Khan has in my view, not a better record of wins though. There is a clear difference.
To be fair, this is the perfect place to pick apart his record as it's like-minded people talking about boxing. It's done with all fighters on here. Agree about character assassinations but that's never going to work either and again happens to all other fighters. Look at the grief Froch gets, Bellew is the same and Ricky Hatton gets it too.

Really not sure at the moment to be honest. Like with most of his fights, i think it will depend on how Khan reacts if he is put off his plan A and whether he can stay mentally strong to avoid getting into a proper punch up. If Brook can make him lose focus and move in straight lines then i'm sure he would have the reactions and power to time him like Garcia did.

Khan-Brook is a showpiece event for British boxing and a big fight in world boxing. I have heard Andy Murray, Paulie Malignaggi, Michelle Phellps all discussing it and questioning why Khan doesn't want the fight. This being discussed on a boxing forum hardly points to an agenda.
The abuse that Brook received on here for pulling out of one fight in 10 years was vicious.
