Cotto is the biggest name middleweight fight he can possible get with some small chance of actually winning the fight............. Cotto isn't a middle imo
Cotto is tiny. He is just a welter. Too small for 154 even. He would still beat Geale though imo. :TU:
Don't know where your'e from Francis but I would like to share with you a saying that is common down here in Australia.
"Opinions are like arse holes. Everybody has one."
Looking forward to the fight if it is made.

Couldn't have said it better Grant, Geale has a major shot here, and what a name to have on the resume.

I can but smile when I read about "Keep Busy" fights. I have been around and on the sidelines of the game for almost seventy years and recall when the top liners fought monthly. ( Ray Robinson fought three hard fights in a month one time.) I have heard the excuses today about brain damage. Sure it occurs, but it goes with the territory. If a fighter fears that malady then stay away from the game altogether. As to Cotto being a busy fighter? Well it's laughable. I loved the game once, but now it's all but a phrase. The best fought the best once, not any more. The ducking and weaving mainly took place within the ropes in the halcyon years of the game; now it all happens on the outside.

Cotto has been as "busy" as most present day fighters. But in the past two and a half years he has only fought twice.

"Keep Busy" fights amounts in many cases to just a poor excuse for badly matched fights. A match-maker's cop out.

Why does there always have to be one of these old guys that just can't let it go and move on. We're not talking about 20-30-40-50-60 years ago. We are talking about NOW!

He has a good point though lairdy, in those days their diets were totally wrong, they worked for a living aswell as fighting and boxing was a very dominant sport, it's taken 5-6 years to get the 2 best in the ring together, there was no ducking, you fought the contender above you to climb the ranks, and the world champion was just that

Why settle for NOW the way it is? It could be so much better. It was better and that's what the guy is saying. Don't shoot the messenger.

Geale vs Cotto looks to have been confirmed:

According to El Vocero (h/t Miguel Rivera of BS.com), Cotto (39-4) and Geale (31-3) will face off at the Barclays Center in New York City in a match televised by HBO, with a press conference next week to officially announced the fight.

That's where things have changed. It's not about the love for boxing when these guys fight anymore. It's about money. It's sad, but there is no use holding onto the past and bringing it up time and time again when talking about fighters from a different era.

Not a problem at all, very big opportunity on a huge stage, geale will probably be in the best shape of his career at that weight

Yep agree, someone like Troy Waters was 5'11 or just a tad below and fought at 154lbs..... Geale really should be fighting at 154lbs with that little muffin top belly of his :DD

flabby?
give it a rest.
and troy waters fighting weight has no bearing on what geale should or should not do.

fighting for over 10 years mostly at the weight and all of a sudden he's carrying a bit?

hilarious!

Great chance regardless of the "catchweight."
Cotto knew a 160 geale would cause massive issues for him so is clutching at whatever advantage he can get. Box smart daniel and it is very possible he comes away with W.

Many Aussies have won world titles in fights where the titleholder was looking for an easy opponent. Look no further than Jeff Harding and Lester Ellis in there first title challenges as prime examples.

It's about taking your chances when they present themselves. Like Harding and Ellis did.

Fighting at 160, Geale will have pretty much every attribute on his side! Hopefully he has been workinh on his ticker! He is a big chance here. He's not fighting a monsterous 160 like GGG!

Cotto is seeking to have a catchweight of 157 pounds set for his defence against Geale.
