Re: Sky Box Office (PPV): Frankie Gavin vs Kell Brook
Anyone know the best way to get B0xnati0n when I cancel my Sky subscription? Is it available in HD on Virgin / BT? Am thinking of getting the basic Virgin or BT packages purely for the internet, but would definitely want to keep B0xnati0n.

Re: Sky Box Office (PPV): Frankie Gavin vs Kell Brook
Fast car and sky are turning boxing into WWE with almost weekly events followed by an end of month or so joke PPV the theiving cnuts.
Fast Eddies cards have been attrocious this year then the fcuker sees fit to mash together 3or 4 reasonable standrds fights and charge PPV.
Fcuk the lot of them - I'm not paying for two sets of frigging PPVs in 1 month my mrs will have me sleeping on our balcony...and those sky bastids have just raised the subscription to boot. I feel like going down to their HQ in Isleworth and slashing Barney Francis' and Smiths car tyres.

I can honestly say I felt much better by not paying the Bellew v Cleverly PPV and I won't pay this one - Frankie is a proven European level boxer and Brook is a level above him, Frankie will most likely get busted up late - Brook v anyone is not PPV.Floatlikeabutterfly wrote:I agree with a lot of the comments, I think this is a very decent card, but certainly not PPV! I think Eddie is just ripping us off now, my problem is as it gets closer I will be very tempted to get it though.

I'm sure the salesman Eddie promised great nights of boxing non ppv when he got the deal with sky. I am far from a matchroom hater but it's kinda getting outta control now and I can only see it die on it's arse.
It's pretty obvious Eddie got desperate for a ppv event early part of the year, whether this is matchroom or sky's greed we'll never know.
I find it a complete joke, the shows have been poor lately and this weekends is awful. Matchroom are hell bent on stacking cards and making them ppv. With the 11.30pm curfew at the o2 the main even has to start at 10.30pm, with a further 5x12 rounders and a 10 rounder announced on the posters how are they logistically going to show all the advertised fights? If i'm paying ppv money, I want what's advertised? Looks like we'll only get highlights of anything under Aj.
10.30pm Brook vs Gavin
9.30pm Mitchell vs Linares
8.30pm Selby vs Gradivich
7.30pm Aj
6.30pm Ryder vs Blackwell
5.30pm Cardle vs Evans
4.30pm Ryan vs Hibbert
Don't forget this is also fa cup final day! Potentially a big game between Arsenal and Liverpool.

Re: Sky Box Office (PPV): Frankie Gavin vs Kell Brook
It`s a quality card and will probably be the best card of the year.If the normal Sky shows were decent it wouldn`t be such a bitter pill for people to swallow as a ppv.
Re: Sky Box Office (PPV): Frankie Gavin vs Kell Brook
A joke of a PPV, total piss take.
Jo Jo Dan and Gavin are not viable oponents to defend a world title against, leg injury or not, there's no excuse for it. Kells cashing in with a few easy defenses by the looks of it, talking tough but taking the fans for a ride. It better be Khan, Thurman or Bradley next, Rios would do.

It's better than the magnificent 7 card that was a PPV - but still not great timing with the Floyd vs May bill so close.

I thought Bund was solid European and Frankie gave a good effort, the problem is the gulf between World level and Euro level takes some bridging..freddydoesdallas wrote:I wouldn't even go as far as saying he is proven European level yetpalooka wrote:I can honestly say I felt much better by not paying the Bellew v Cleverly PPV and I won't pay this one - Frankie is a proven European level boxer and Brook is a level above him, Frankie will most likely get busted up late - Brook v anyone is not PPV.Floatlikeabutterfly wrote:I agree with a lot of the comments, I think this is a very decent card, but certainly not PPV! Re: Sky Box Office (PPV): Frankie Gavin vs Kell Brook
Certainly will NOT even consider paying extra for this . that's the only way I can register my protest. I will also not be paying extra for Mayweather either, there is now NO fight I'll pay extra for. I 've said it before, why is there no PPV for football?
We know that there would be such an outcry that it could almost finish SKY. The people concerned obviously think the average boxing fan is a mug, though.
I'm now glad I have allegedly.

you can get it online, it depends how you usually consume your media. I have subscribed online before but a billing fk up made me flounce off so they won't be getting my custom again.Boxerbeetle wrote:Anyone know the best way to get B0xnati0n when I cancel my Sky subscription? I don't pay for PPV although I probably would have paid for Froch Groves 2 if I wasn't actually at the event. If I were a Sky subscriber and being treated like a mug with all those adverts I would DEFINITELY feel exploited by paying an extra £16 to watch an event.
If you know what you're looking for, you can find it online
To be fair to Eddie, he has a deal with that broadcaster so he's always going to stick up for them. The new iteration of Matchroom has been very good for boxing in Britain. It is SKY who are the money grabbing thieves
Re: Sky Box Office (PPV): Frankie Gavin vs Kell Brook
if im honest im disappointed in Gavin as kells opponent. I was hoping for a bigger name as a voluntary defence but equally iunderstand Gavin is skilled and awkward, but.. I just cant stop thinking about how ordinary Curtis Woodhouse made gavin look, which then makes me think kell will dismantle him early ish with his power. in reality the longer the fight goes on the better chance Gavin has, but I cant see him stealing Kells title that has taken so long to put round his waist. So..this is Kells voluntary in May.....then Im guessing there will be a mandatory in August? (Rios?) and then...hopefully a clash with Khan in December. now that one could be in the Millenium stadium, with the roof closed!!.

Re: Sky Box Office (PPV): Frankie Gavin vs Kell Brook
Think Rios is gonna be a voluntary as well. Don't forget how quick the turn around is for this fight after his last mando. Think the IBF do them every 9 months to a year, and it looks like the Bradley v Porter winner will be the next IBF mandatory.rhino222 wrote:if im honest im disappointed in Gavin as kells opponent. Re: Sky Box Office (PPV): Frankie Gavin vs Kell Brook
In an IFL TV interview Kell was defending it and saying something along the lines of that Gavin was being lined up for the Bradley eliminater and asked Eddie what the point was of that fight and perhaps he could go straight in with Brook. Well the point would be to do what fighters should always do - earn a world title shot and there is no fcking way he has done that. And the other reason obviously is that he would get a right spanking from Bradley. Deep division, full of quality names, Brook fights the worse rated fighter there is which some see as acceptable purely as he is British
Re: Sky Box Office (PPV): Frankie Gavin vs Kell Brook
Mandatory will be called at end of December. Alter that they have 30 days to negotiate, then a purse bid, then 90 days for the fight. So it needn't happen until next April. They have to get a mandatory challenger too. At present, no one wants to do it.

A Frankie Gavin fight PPV? Have I woken up in some parallel dimension?
I will be not be caving and buying this. Can't afford Sky and two PPVs a month. What's the point paying for Sky Sports? Only have it for boxing!

Re: Sky Box Office (PPV): Frankie Gavin vs Kell Brook
I also only had it for boxing but work this little beauty out. With a NOW TV box you can buy day passes for Sky Sports for £6.99. Matchroom have I think it is 24 dates this year so even if you got a day pass for all of them, it is only £167.76 per year compared to Sky Sports which is £24.50 per month for a yearly cost of £294. Further realistically you will probably top out at 18 shows per year as you will skip past the shite ones which are more often than not currently (personally I am about 15) which is £125.82 per year. Worried about missing RIngside? Some youtube channels have it uploaded that night, I have never missed it since cutting Sky Sports.black panther wrote:A Frankie Gavin fight PPV? Can't get Sky Box Office through Now TV though can you?
Re: Sky Box Office (PPV): Frankie Gavin vs Kell Brook
If this was a normal, Saturday night card on SS1 I'd be well happy. Yes, Brook vs Gavin isn't a step forward for Kell, in properly the most talent packed weight division in boxing, but it still holds some interest for me. The Selby/Mitchell fights are genuine tough fights for the pair, and the British/Commonwealth title fights are well matched. The AJ fight may answer a few questions etc.
However, 2015 has been a year of poor cards by Matchroom - and the next two (Leeds, Brum) aren't pulse quickeners.
The o2 show is 2/3 quality "normal" cards smashed together, and £15-£20 for the privilege.
I get sick of hearing that Hearn couldn't pay purses/put the show on without PPV (see Bellew-Clev II) - when the answer is obvious - don't put them all on one show. Would be nice if Kugan could put that to him on occasion.

I've got 10 passes that I got for free from Carling:
http://www.conveniencestore.co.uk/produ ... 21.article
Some shops do still sell the cases with the free code. The offer is limited to 5 codes per customer but I've set up Now TV accounts in both mine and my wifes name. The codes have to be validated by 30th June 2015, and used within 12 months thereafter. Free SKY Sports, if you don't mind drinking Carling.

I'm sure there'll be plenty of streams floating around on fight night, there always are.
On the bright side of all this - if there's one fighter who has a chance of killing the future of PPV stone dead, it's Frankie Gavin
