The amount of punishment Provod took would knock three Lamont Petersons out. I really hope he is not fighting after this for a very long time.

Round 6: 10-8 Matthysse, IMO. No knockdown, but Matthysse whooped that ass from bell to bell. Provodnikov landed one good hook, which is the only possibly argument for scoring this round 10-9. This round was a shellacking.

4-2 mattyhsse

Provodnikov ate right hands repeatedly throughout the round in Matthysse's best 3 minutes yet.

5-1 Matthysse

This fights done.

Lucas has taken over. Provo just too brave for his own good

Round 7: Clear 10-9 Matthysse. Almost a candidate for a 10-8 round, but not really. Fairly one-sided action in Matthysse's favor, and a good amount of damage done.

Keep telling you boxer puncher always beats brawler. Provod is in a deep whole.

The Matthysse jab is beautiful, it's opening up so many avenues.
Provodnikov's punch landed score must have slowed down there.

6-1 Matthysse

Provod used his brain in 8th and won that rounds. Lucas 7-1.

Round 8: Clear 10-9 Matthysse. The fighters exchanged roughly equal quality of power punches, but in addition to that, Matthysse steadily landed hard jabs all round, whereas Provodnikov added no jabs.

Provodnikov came on late in the round as Matthysse appeared to slow down, close.

its a different fight when Provo lets his hands go. he does not have Gatti power to turn this around.

Round 9: Very close round. Both fighters landed a ton of bombs -- scoring roughly equally. Neither fighter made much use of the jab that round.

I expect these cards to be a lot closer than you might think. Strictly because when Prov lands the crowd goes nuts.

Matthysse jab is either dominating some rounds or just swinging some of them in his favour at times.

Round 10: Pretty clear 10-9 Matthysse. Matthysse just landed about 50% more effective punches. Provodnikov did cap the round with a huge hook at the bell, though.

Provodnikov scored with a big shot but again it's the Matthysse jab swinging the round.
Ruslan has a great chin and an amazing will to win but he keeps getting caught way too often.

Round 11: Very clear 10-9 Provodnikov. Quiet round at first. At 1:47, Matthysse had tape hanging from his glove, and it took over a minute before anyone produced scissors to cut it with. After time-in was called, Provodnikov rained down power punches for the remained of the round. Total ass-whopping and could almost have been a 10-8 round.

Thats what happens when you dont have scissors right there. Lucas 8-3 before the last.
