Yeah, Belshaw is taller. BoxRec says he is 6' 7".

He capitulated very tamely if my memory serves me right.

Well, Belshaw wasn't a very good fighter.

Not wrong there.

I fear Gary Cornishs career may end up similar.

I think Cornish is better, but if he ever steps up I see him getting spanked about a bit.

Cunningham, Chisora, Johnson, and Hammer (notice the lack of power) range from 6'1"-6'3" and are clearly smaller men than Wlad, so as mentioned, it's not like Wlad will be the only fighter who is unfamiliar with the combination of size and ability across the ring.
Don't apply logic! Bang out of order!!!

I liken Furys challenge to Wlad like a football team preparing to play Chelsea by warming up against Rushden & Diamonds. He isn't remotely ready for Wlad based on what he has faced so far.

I hope I'm wrong but I could see Wlad taking him out quicker than he did Pulev and this being one of them fights where people look back at the pre-fight polls on here and ask 'what was everyone smoking back then?' ( think Haye-Maccarenelli )

I think Wlad will KO Fury, but if it does go to the scorecards Wlad will still win. TBH I see Fury at European level. If anybody is going to beat Klitscho in the foreseeable future, it will be Wilder.

Who's at world level then?

I think people are being rather unfair about Fury. He outclassed Chisora who managed to go the distance in a competitive fight against vitali.

He's beaten Cunningham and hammer (who was potential wlads next opponent), he's so far proven he is solid European level.

I'd say wilder and fury are the only legit opponents for wlad currently.

Fury may be the underdog and I would be surprised if he won (I'll still be supporting him heavily) but at least he isn't going to let wlad bully and lean all over him.

It'll be interesting to see how wlad copes with someone who he doesn't have all the physical advantages over.

I know what you mean but the Del v Vitali fight has been over-glorified for me. Way too much has been made of Del going the distance with Vitali. I seem to remember Vitali damaging his hand in that one and not looking himself that night, motivation who knows.

Anyway that aside I feel Tyson would do well against Wlad but needs to avoid his big shots or there will be issues for him.
In fact they are both pretty good at holding other fighters so I expect quite a bit of wrestling in this one. I'd love Tyson to win but I just can't see it.

I can only see this ending one way - when Wlad positions himself to land a flush 1-2. But until then i think it will be interesting. Wlad will be bemused by Fury circling and throwing longer jabs than he can.

I posted on CS that like Lewis, Wlad comes out aggressively against bigger guys (because he is more athletic than them- Pulev/Wach) and conservatively against smaller athletic guys (Jennings/Haye) as he is bigger than them. Grant as opposed to Holyfield for Lewis.

If Wlad decides to fight like the smaller man he could take Fury out very quickly and that would be very entertaining. Using his tactics of staying outside and grabbing on the inside will make it much harder and it could take until the middle to late rounds to have ground Fury down gradually.

You have to give Chisora credit, 1st off he actually went in there to win which 90% of Wlads opponents don't do. He gave him a good go and was probe his toughest fight since Sanders.

Dereck fought Vitali not Wlad mate. So he wasn't Wlad's toughest fight since Sanders was he?

Whoever said Fury can win without clinching and leaning didn't see the Cunningham fight. I'll refresh your memory. He got decked by a light punching cruiser, was blowing like a whale, and had to squash him to win. The Chisora win was good, but Del wasn't rolling and moving his head like he did against Vitali. I think it's foolish to think Fury can go more than 6 rounds, and if he wins, I'll be big enough to eat my words.

First off, I think Wlad will postpone the fight at least once to put Fury off his training and get under his skin. The fight probably won't happen till November. When it does, I expect slim and motivated Fury to outbox Klitschko and wear him down. It's true Fury doesn't have a great chin or serious punching power, however Wlad's chin is just as weak and Fury does have enough power to get the job done. Also, he's got more heart than the entire Klitschko family put together. That should get him through a few rough patches.

Fury to win by TKO somewhere between rounds 10-12.

Everybody says Fury doesn't have any punching power ... but I read recently that he has the highest KO% of any Klitschko opponent during his entire 11 year title reign...

So he certainly hits hard enough to trouble Wlad - who himself has been knocked down 10+ times in his career.

It's going to be an interesting fight when it happens!

He has not had his heart tested against a serious dangerman yet. Getting up against powder puff punchers is one thing. Wanting to fight on with one eyeball hanging out your socket against an all time great ( although diminished ) with huge power is ever so slightly different to rising off the floor against a cruiserweight or a European journeyman fighter.

I love Tyson and he 'seems' as game as lion ( although he didn't look too pleased to see Ustinov come prepared to fight... ) but it's amazing how an attitude can change when faced with a bigger and badder foe. Something Fury won't ever have experienced in his life probably.

Not sure Wlad will be postponing any fight if he can help it. Hardly a spring chicken

What sparring partners should Fury get in to prepare for Wlad? All the taller fighters are pale comparison compared to Wlad, and I reckon Wlad will acquire most decent ones (no doubt K2 promoted Ustinov will be in the Wlad camp for instance). I wouldn't put it past the Wlad camp trying to buy in the majority of half decent tall fighters and barely using them, just to screw up Fury's preparations.

David Price would be a good one. He's done some top-level sparring, and has the long amateur style. Won't have to worry about nerves either.

Hughie Fury is a cert, and will be good to have in camp, and looked impressive in his last fight. Tyson may be a bit too familiar with his style though.

Pulev fights in completely different style to Wlad, but is tough, game and has a good jab. If the Furys can strike a deal with Sauerland, then that will make it easier to get hold of both Pulev and Price.

Erkan Teper - fairly heavy hitting, ambitious prospect who's about 6'5" .

That's a very good question re. sparring partners for Fury.

For David Haye, they pushed the boat out and got Steve Cunningham, Eddie Chambers (who later joined Team Fury) and Dillian Whyte. A pretty impressive trio that would have been ideal preparation if Haye hadn't have pulled out.

I expect a similar attitude to getting the best available this time too.

I imagine Wach will be a shoe in, Helenius perhaps (both are actually taller than Wlad) and Hughie.

Can't see Price as he is hoping for a fight vs Fury at some point.

The problem as you say, in this instance, will be that Wlad will want the same guys (along with Ustinov) as they are the only ones close in stature to Fury. I imagine Price would jump at the chance to spar with Wlad.

Haye had a higher KO percentage, even if only his heavyweight fights counted.

I don't ever see this fight happening anyway tbh. Fury's camp must know he'd get knocked out; I reckon they'll try to delay the title shot until after Wlad retires.

I think it'll be easier for Tyson to find sparring partners than Wlad, won't find any on the same level but there's enough 6 foot 6 heavyweights out there for them to bring in a few decent ones to prepare him. Wlad will have good sparring partners, but where's he going to find a 6'9" switch hitting heavyweight?
