But you still have to do tickets or not get paid on the mbc route so the lad will still have the same problem except the wages cost moreon mbc so it will be harder cover costs.

Wages cost more on MBC ???, while i know you usually are pretty clued up im not sure where you get that from..... especially on the Novice pro section as they are only on a smaller wage anyway.
Because most of the opponents on mbc are from abroad which generally costs a little bit more than british opp of the same standard.

The overall cost for a foriegn guy including flights etc for a four rounder comes to at the cheapest around 1250 for an opp and that is the cheapest

For a british away type the going rate is 1100 all in.

Obviously once they get more british fighters it may end up cheaper but i doubt it if they are going down the route of ticket seller at home away boxer no fans which is the way it looks at the mo. The likes of jodie miekle and matt scriven are not suddenly going to box for less money than they did on the bbbofc or start selling tickets. The foriegn boxers prices are what they are not a lot can be done about that
The Novice pro division is a little different though. The boxers earn a recommended purse of £500, but can only be classed as a novice pro for their first 4 bouts, im not actually sure if fully fledged journeymen can be used in these bouts, pretty sure its just fellow novice pro licensed guys. The reality (in my opinion) is that this section is to appeal to those currently boxing on the unlicensed circuit.

Oh thats a pretty decent concept if it works plus the fact both lads will probably sell tickets so would only have to sell 30 each to cover what they earn.
Thats actualy a good idea be interested to see if it takes off

What's your opinion on the MBC Jon?

And hypothetically if you had a guy that doesn't sell tickets but is entertaining where other fighters ticket sales are boosted from having him on the card, and you know in a few fights the tickets will sell anyways due to him giving the audience what they want. Would you take a short term loss at that?

I think the MBC could last if they change a few things its not a bad thing as a monoploy has never done anything any good, but what gets me a little is people calling the bbbofc on certain things and rightly so sometimes but ignoring when the mbc does exactly the same surely if your going to make strides in a new business against an older established business you have to be almost perfect in what yr doing to catch up and get yrself known.

People have moaned for years about the masters titles being crap and bad for boxing and also moaned about the level of matching and level of people being allowed to box in spite of many losses.
Yet when these things are stopped at the board and go to mbc people think oh well thats fine.
I dont think either makes much of a differnce but just think if you hammer one for standards you have to beat that with a new organisation.

On the other point we have done with lads like Eggington,Calum Cooper,Craig Cunningham and quite a few others but its not so much taking a loss as no small promotion can handle that for too long, its about picking shows that other lads are doing particualry well on and sliding those lads on to there where theres more of a buffer to handle some ticket losses.

Also the guy that doesnt sell tickets has to understand and help as well by maybe pushing it harder and working a deal to box for a bit less money or no commision on any tickets he does do.

I know people say its the promoters job to sell the tickets but surely you can see if a lad whos having his first fight cant sell many tickets to his actual family and friends who have known him all his life, its obvious a promoter is going to struggle no matter what he does publicity wise to sell tickets to the general public on the same lad who they have never heard off.

I have to commend you on the way you managed Cunningham and egginton. If you made a loss on them early then it's paying off now although Eddie is making some of the profits on Sam. Still fantastic management

Hi to ask another question. If a boxer is a boring fighter but has won 20 bouts and beaten everyone in front of him surely he should get a British title shot ? I dare Say there are fighters who win on points but not got a.ko power but box well and awkward to fight against. Surely the bbbc must force title fights to happen based on rankings ?
