Just watched James Toney-Vassiliy Jirov for first time earlier, what a war, check out the cojones on Jirov,Toney's accurate counter punching was a sight to behold too
All the previous fights I'd seen of Toney were in the last decade or so,I'll really need to check out his MW exploits
Next up Salvador Sanchez-Azumah Nelson

I think Toney would always present an interesting challenge for Holyfield because of how relaxed and fluid his style was. Even at his best Holyfield was a little bit stiff, in comparison, I would say, and stylistically he was basically the kind of aggressive come-forward fighter without too many technical frills that Toney tended to feast on.
The best Holyfield vs Toney at cruiser, I think his physicality sees him through, but it would be the mother of all struggles.
The crazy Bowe v Golota fights again....where do you start with these?
Still fascinating so many years down the line and I still find myself thinking Golota had the talent, size, aggression and power to become a bona fide heavyweight champion.
The first fight in particular is so peculiar....Golota almost getting through at will and Bowe looks like a man who knows that he's in proper trouble.
Newman is also doing his nut at ringside.
Both fights still leave me scratching my head, Golota was bossing them and then had these inexplicable meltdowns. What a waste and we'll sadly never know what Golota could have achieved if he had kept his head against Bowe.
I have about 5,000 classics from all eras including films from reel transfers from a great collector who passed! I also started taping myself back in 1981 and have all the modern classics Nardico vs Norkus both fights are gems!!! If anyone is interested let me know ---I am willing to let out some stuff including some treasures at trading or selling----Love this stuff---nothing like watching great fights from the past----probably caused my divorce---lol lol
Watched Charles - Satterfield tonight-----short but terrific---Danny Lopez vs Mike Ayala ----unbelievable fight!!!

So true.
Golota was a nut job who could have a achieved so much more.
These fights also proved what heart Riddick Bowe had too.
He had the brown stuff knocked out of him, but he never gave up at all.

Bowe & Golota: two humongous wastes of talent. :x
The way Golota fouled his way out of they fights was like the way people say Tyson took the cowards way out in the Holyfield rematch except as you say Andrew was in complete control, something clearly not wired right in his head, how different he could've been remembered
Ive just watched the first Gene Fullmer-Carmen Basilio fight,no doubt Gene hurt Carmen with that right hand and was bludgeoning him in the follow up assault but man that refs call must've been controversial back then was it?

WTF I just watched the rematch what was the stoppage all about?? that was as bad a call ive ever seen,i thought Basilio was unlucky in the first fight In all fairness Fullmer should have been credited with a KD in the middle rounds when he caught Basilio with the left hook but i cant help but feel sorry for Carmen in both they fights
Young-Foreman wasnt as good as id hoped, you got to give Jimmy credit he boxed very well and Big George really struggled to pin him down but round 12 got Ring magazine round of the year
Apart from the KD buggar all happened
Next up the Vazquez-Marquez series, now this will be fun
charles vs valentino. saw it right after the fight at a theatre in cincinnati i watch it from time to time, and i usually follow it up with charlesvs satterfield. looked at them both this past week. charles was past his prime for the satterfield fight, but was able to withstand satterfiedl bombs and in the second round he landed that perfect left hook.

I watched Zarate v Zamora and the first 2 segments of Zarate v Pintor - the 4 boxers are examples of power, precision and class; they are stoic to punishment in the extreme - their facial expression rarely even alters even under heavy fire. I love the Mexican bantamweights!
