Generally speaking though I think that if he hasn't done it after 3 attempts then they don't really deserve another go - unless he does a proper rebuilding job, beating top contenders etc. and not just another straight shot.
It is not as if his shots were against pound for pounders and the fact that he shifts a load of tickets should not be the differentiating factor in my opinion.
I don't think so either.billy nelson wrote:with respect nobody deserves four attempts do they?bripez wrote:I think that Clinton Woods won his world title at the fourth attempt so it may happen.tilt wrote:Hope he gets another shot ,he deserves it. If not back the boozer init

Katsidis fight was for a WBO Interim title

If he`s been drinking wine 9 weeks before the fight then I`d argue he`s not an alcoholic, just a guy who likes a drink. There are many people who think they are alcoholic when they are actually just people who like a drink more than the average bloke. Believe me, there is a big difference.
I like a drink, but I´m not an alcoholic, I like to get high on all sorts of drugs, but I`m not a junkie either. I can take them both and leave them both. They don`t take over and I know where to draw the line after a while.
Gambling however has a different hold over me. I would never (I hope) go into another Casino as long as I live, or start betting online again. I know that if I did, it will spiral beyond all control very quickly. Thus I have a gambling problem.
Much like alcoholism, you either knock it on the head completely or it will gradually get worse until it destroys you and those around you.
In an ideal world, no, but that ideal world doesn't have 4 world titles in each weight class does it?billy nelson wrote:with respect nobody deserves four attempts do they?bripez wrote:I think that Clinton Woods won his world title at the fourth attempt so it may happen.tilt wrote:Hope he gets another shot ,he deserves it. He hasn't though, he's fought three times at that level and lost all three comprehensively inside the distance. It's clear that he doesn't belong at that level, so why should he be given another opportunity?MarkMcBurney wrote:In an ideal world, no, but that ideal world doesn't have 4 world titles in each weight class does it?billy nelson wrote:with respect nobody deserves four attempts do they?bripez wrote:

If he's shown he can tough it out at the top, should he have to stay at fringe level just because 'nobody deserves 4 shots'? That's a bit simplistic IMO, Billy.
If he earns it then it will be fine, but I doubt that he'll have to beat anyone decent before getting another crack at a world title.expe wrote:He hasn't though, he's fought three times at that level and lost all three comprehensively inside the distance. You are right, he could have some great match ups domestically. He has had a good career and entertained along the way. Khan and Pac comparison is a little off though, these two have beat top level operators. Might be hard for Mitchell to find the motivation to go back to a level he may feel he doesn't belong at.Eddy wrote:I think he sould get some juicey domestic dustups and see where he goes. Losing in boxing doesn't mean your career is over; Just ask Amir Khan and Manny Pac.

In the old days there was eight weights and one champion in each eight.bigjack wrote:handsofstone wrote:Why do people keep insisting that Mitchell has had 3 shots at a world title?

Yes that bugs me too,in the good old days he would be very lucky to get 1 go at it.
Mate Kevin was out thought and outclassed by Burns, he done a far better job than Linares, give Burns credit ffsthepocketrocket wrote:I can see that being made as a rematch.
However, that would have been such a damaging fight for Kevin. once wonders whether his best was left in that ring last night.
Also, shame he couldn't have kept of the ale and trained properly for Katsidis and Burns. One suspects he would already be a two time champion
