Klitschko has shown top skill against many opponents who aren't short, slow plodders. Jennings isn't a straight ahead plodder nor is he slow, Haye is one of the fastest HWs of recent years and didn't walk straight to Wlad, Chambers is very quick himself and fought cautiously on the back foot, Thompson is about 6'5", Wach is nearly 6"8, and McCline is 6"6 to name a few.

I have acknowledged several times in other posts that Wlad hasn't fought someone precisely like Fury, but I do think he's fought closer approximations in terms of a combination of general size and ability than Fury has of him, and he's shown several times that he can still handily beat contenders who are roughly his size or bigger without needing to rely on a large size advantage.

Fury will obviously still have a size advantage over Wlad, though not his typical massive one, but given that he's only shown his 'new' boxing skills against slow, non-punching plodders who are 7 and 8 inches shorter than him, and are in those ways well-suited for him to outbox, I still have doubts about how he'll be able to effectively maintain that style against someone much bigger, better, and different stylistically than Hammer and Chisora.

To me it will be a hard fight For W. Klitschko, one of the most difficult of his career.

This is the thing, who has Fury fought, to prepare him for Wlad - he's been fighting guys who are physically completely mismatched - let's see how he copes fighting a guy who is pretty much the same size, physically much stronger, technically much better, and who punches way way harder.

I think it's a rough night for Fury where he sees just how big that gulf is.

Unless Fury has way more in his locker than I've so far seen, it's an easy night's work for Wlad.

Good luck to him though, nothing personal, just don't see how he has much chance.

I like Fury and very much hope he wins. Obv Wlad is a big step up and you are exactly right we will have to see what Tyson has in his locker.
I would like to say though how much Fury has improved, I didn't think he would make British champion after the McDermott fights, and both Hammer and Chisora are solid European fighters who were dominated for every second of every round.
For me the jab is key, if the Ukranian cannot establish it, Tyson will have an opportunity to draw him into a fight he can win.

The one certainty is that Fury will turn up to win and have a go. He might not win but, as I think I've posted elsewhere, it should be entertaining.

I still think this fight will be in Germany, allegedly isn't promoting fury anymore. and Hennessy isn't strong enough to build fury - klitschko fight up. Be lucky to see out the M.E.N let alone the stadium, makes more sense to go to purse bids and have a 50 thousand in Germany.

Warren and Hennessey co-promote Fury.

Warren contract was only three fights with fury. had them.boxing chat should confirm that.

Klitschko-Fury will do big numbers.

Why has Warren been negotiating with Klitschko's team and talking about getting the fight on over here then? The contract signed before the Abell fight might have finished but that doesn't stop them from signing a new one.

I'm a Fury fan and I've always said he'll be a world champion, although I don't think it'll be in his next fight.

One thing though, Fury doesn't have a massive following. I honestly don't think it would sell out a 40,000 plus stadium.

I don't even know what boxing chat is. It's pretty clear that Warren still promotes Fury because he's been doing most of the work with regards to this fight, if Mick was Fury's only promoter we wouldn't even be talking about the fight being over here.

Boxing chat is Frank's right hand man, Andy Ayling. I doubt he'll get involved in this, he normally saves himself for jibes at other firms.

It will be interesting to see both men fighting people their own size. Fury though, lacks Klitschkos vast experience and to my mind has only looked good against much smaller opponents. I have never liked Fury either as a man or as a fighter. He was clearly beaten in his first fight against big John McD through both lack of fitness and experience although the ref gave the fight to Fury as the up and coming fighter. Fury could survive to hear the final bell but I somehow doubt it. I think he will push Klitschko during the mid rounds into finding the KO punch to end it.

If it's going to be at Chelsea, could it be a K2 promotion using links to Abramovich? I'm sure he would love to promote his club by bringing the heavyweight champion over and wouldn't mind paying a few quid out.

Would be great to have the fight over here in England but I can't see it. I hope I'm wrong. I'm not sure Wlad vs Fury sells 40k+ on its own and I don't think Warren/Hennesey could put together a good enough undercard to sell a load of tickets.

Fury could sell it in the UK on press conference performances alone.

Sensible decision. You would only need to look at the Ricoh Arena pitch last season to see what damage can be done hosting events on the pitch in season

If it's done right and the pitch is looked after it should be fine, Wembley hosts events all the time and there's no issues with the pitch.

Wembley isn't the best comparison. It was hammered for the shocking state of the pitch for years and it's not used on a weekly/fortnightly basis for football.

I think the main problem is when it is used towards the autumn end and once it's damaged, it's pretty much impossible to repair till the following March. Some teams are now using a hybrid pitch to counteract this (it's what Wasps have installed Xtragrass at the Ricoh)

It is if you've no money but Chelsea have the UV lamps that they can use to grow the grass back, not like Blackpool where the solution is to throw sand on it and hope for the best.

Sometimes it's hard to keep track of things, was Leapai a mando challenger? As far as I can remember Povetkin was a manatory challenger for the WBA & Pulev was a mandatory challenger for the IBF.
