No, not if it had gone to purse bids and the Russian won, he would have had to go to Russia, England or wherever he was told or give up the belt, he maybe the champion but money talks when it comes to purse bids.
You're missing the point. Wlad will not be dictated to. It doesn't matter what came about, if he didn't like it he wouldn't do it. There aren't many fighters who are true power brokers in the sport. Wlad is one of them.

ps looks like the Russian is appealing tbe agreement. If it ends up in Russia, the ukranian will not go

Then he'll be stripped of the WBA and WBO titles and Fury will fight for the vacant belts. They can't force him to go there but there's no way out of the fight without losing two of his three titles and damaging his reputation.

That would be the way it should be. However, this is boxing with the biggest heavyweight in the world who also generates the most money. They will find a super belt to give him as he is still the best by a mile and fury will get a shot on K2 terms.

Fury needs wlad more than wlad needs him.

Regarding Russia, i doubt even a boxing sanctioning body would force someone to go into the country occupying his homeland when the mandatory is not Russian

Wlad already has the super title, there's only so many rules the WBA can get away with breaking and the WBO will strip him if he refuses to fight Fury, they've just stripped Mayweather so they won't give a fornicate about Klitschko. Where the fight takes place is irrelevant, as long as it's safe, there's no way out of it.

All ifs buts and maybes now as it's finalised. If people think fury has a bad deal then surely that suggests k2 have thrown their weight about to get what they want (as usual).

Sounds more like they've thrown their cash behind a deal than their weight...

There's three ways Fury can win.

1. If Wlad comes apart overnight, which sometimes happens to older fighters.

2. If Fury lands a once in a career punch, like Michael Nunn vs Sumbu Kalambay.

3. IF he is in great shape, IF he is mentally right, IF he sticks to the game plan and IF he keeps his concentration for every second of the fight, he could win. They are not big ifs, they are MASSIVE ifs.

Barring a miracle, Klitshcko by knockout.

Well, lads, there's 30 of us confirmed already, so if we have a Boxrec meet up, you're more than welcome to come along calling me Pikey1975... I wouldn't advise it though, stay at home and slag Tyson off on your phones.

I will be very interested to see how Klitschko handles the build up here, which i think could be
A lot bigger than he has dealt with before, even in his distinguished career.

One thing keeps jumping out at me is that if Chisora got under his skin, during Vitali's fight what on earth is he going to make of Fury's antics.

I don't think its a gimmee for wlad, I agree if he lands clean etc etc, but the fact is he is very reluctant to open up most of the time, if Fury jumps on him ala Corrie Saunders (I know Saunders had a lot more power) he could place doubts in the champs mind and could just pull this off.

BT Sport? They've been going now for 2 years and for the past 2 years we've been hearing rumours etc. that they will be "dipping their toes" into boxing. So far, barring Friday night fights, which was around BEFORE BT bought out the host broadcasting rights to ESPN UK - they've shown NOWT barring that non-licenced thing and highlights from allegedly (which is now also on allegedly!).

Is this a clever marketing ploy to keep boxing fans subscribing or are they serious about tipping their toes into boxing.... if they are then all I am saying is, it must be a non-heated swimming pool that is ice cold.

I've been fortunate to have BT sport for nowt due to being a BT subscriber - but that is changing in August.

Can see this maybe going the distance in a messy fight.

Fury will no doubt switch stance trying to befuddle Wlad with his long slaps and then Wlad will tie him up.

Usual Klitchsko affair really.

They'll be expecting the build up. Haye seriously annoyed him with the t shirt and Briggs has stalked him! Tyson is pretty comical in what he does, Wlad is too long in the tooth to be bothered.

I wonder if Fury is planning fighting southpaw on the night,he's looked comfortable so far from that stance but he's an orthodox fighter so if he's to have a chance of beating Klitschko then surely he would be better to fight to his strengths

The southpaw angle is interesting though,,if he can take away Wlads jab, avoid his hugging tactics,I doubt he'll be able to lean on Tyson like he does most opponents and of course avoid getting chinned then Fury has got skills to box to a 12 round gameplan, Klitschko is skilled himself but he's shown before especially against Povetkin than he can get a bit flustered and frustrated when he doesn't get away with his usual tactics

Also we need a strong ref so it doesn't turn into a hug fest

Fair play to Fury; early on in his career, before Peter Fury took over, I didn't think he'd get this far, but he's worked his way to a deserved title shot.

Yeah i can't really see anything that Fury will bring in the build up that Wlad hasn't seen before

I was talking to traveler I know on Saturday, who knows Peter really well. He doesn't expect Tyson to win and blames his lack of decent sparring and not fighting anyone of Wlad's size in his career.

He also reckons BJS is going to beat Andy Lee easy.

50-50 that one. Darlo is a very Romany place so he was probably biased. Nobody expects Tyson to win, we all want him to, though.

Your quite right! He's still on the boxn@tion website though... http://www.allegedly.com/boxers/tyson-fury/

Nonetheless, Queensberry Promotions and Fwank himself have been very quiet since the fight got announced!

Looks like not only was Htunov willing to bid over $18mil for the fight (meaning that Fury would have gotten at least $3.6mil, or £2.3mil) but he would have also staged it in the UK as he was working on behalf (or with) Fwank Warren!

Big Mick must have gotten Fury one hell of a deal to beat what would have probably ended up being about $4mil (£2.5mil) and having it in a stadium in the UK!

Not necessarily. It could have been take it or leave it from Wlad as Fury wouldn't make anywhere near as much against anyone else.

There would be no 'take it or leave it' with this one, given that it's a mandatory defence. Hennessey either agrees a deal that they see as very attractive to Fury or they let it go to purse bids - and in this case, their share of an $18 m bid (although we don't know for sure that they knew that bid was being tabled). Simply in terms of a purse, it's a win-win.

$18m is certainly win-win indeed. Especially now that reports are coming through that Hrunov was partnering with Fwank Warren, which surely would have meant that the fight would have been staged somewhere in the UK.

There are conflicting reports however, with some stating that Hrunov was planning on staging it in Russia. If that is the case, I dont blame the Fury camp for making a last minute deal because even if they were willing to fight in Russia they probably knew Klitschko would not (for political reasons), and thus no payday for Fury.
