West Midlands accents still leave me flummoxed....was at Uni outside Coventry for four years....and there was absolutely everything on offer from Brummie, bits of rural Warwickshire, all sorts of Irish brogues, some Jamaican and the original Cov accent. Bewildering but also fascinating and unique.
The Shrewsbury (was passing through) accent was even more of a classic
