Round 6 now not really impressed. You can time the speed of these punches with an hour glass. Thought lucas was more skillfull than this

One ugly fight to watch. Browne gets the win. But gains nothing from the fight. Long awkward. Frustrating. Really much chop. But hard to get out of there.

Browne's first fight in nine months and he broke his right thumb in the first round.
End of the ninth he laid Long out like the corpse at a funeral.

Opetaia came in at 91kg for his fight tonight. More cruiserweight than heavyweight.

That was a very ugly win for Browne. Have to believe him when he says he broke his right thumb in the first round
Julius (Chef and part-time boxer) looked great for a few rounds then gassed - not surprising on 5 days notice
Lucas was talking all kinds of smack to Wilder for taking 9 rounds to get rid of Molina, then he shows us that?

very ordinary from lucas imo.
no chance vs chagaev going by this effort.
i'll still cheer for him though.

Lucas was poor he will lose against Chagaev if he repeats that performance. Parker might actually seriously hurt Lucas he should steer clear of Joseph.

Broken thumbs can take a long time to get right. It is the last thing Lucas needed when he looked so ordinary and plainly needs a lot of work,

Yeah I broke mine and snapped a tendon - needed surgery and took a while to come right
Hope it's not too serious and he doesn't miss the Chagaev shot

Browne says he broke his thumb with the first right hand he threw >>>
“It was a bit of a struggle with my thumb. I think I did it literally the first time I threw my right hand. It was definitely in the first round.
“I hope my thumb heals quickly because looking forward to getting back into training as soon as I can. I need to iron a few things out but I’m ready to work.”
Manager Matt Clark added: “Full credit to Julius. He told me he had been in training, looking for an opportunity and he really grabbed it with both hands. Lucas got the win and had to grit it out.
“Hopefully the thumb isn’t too bad. We will obviously have to get it looked at. I’m happy that he gutted it out and got the result.
“There’s things to work on and we will address that. He has nine rounds under his belt now and that’s to our advantage.”

I think his thumb is the last thing he needs to be concerned about.

Not it's the first thing, because until Browne gets the thumb right he won't be able to work on his obvious deficiencies and he has a ton of work to do.

I'm getting the feeling Lucas is starting to get caught up in his own hype. He says far too much on twitter and I recall reading him claim he is the hardest puncher in the division - which he clearly isn't.
There's no doubt Browne needs another fight prior to meeting Chagaev. So as a matter of priority he needs to get that thumb right. Get some seriously hard work in and then beat someone impressively before jumping in with Chagaev early next year.
