Shame the Soro fight fell through. Let's just hope this isn't a sign of things to come

Got to admit I've not seen anything of this John Thompson fella. I can only visualise the guy from the Fast Show of a similar name.

Thompson is nowhere near as interesting as Soro. Sure, he won Boxcino, but he beat a bunch of novices to do so and was pushed close by one of them, can't punch much despite his stoppage win in the finals, was heavily knocked out in 2 by a prospect immediately before the tournament, and has never been past 8. His best win was an upset of Brandon Adams, who had only 26 combined amateur and pro bouts at the time and was virtually whitewashed by Willie Monroe the previous year.

Uh... I'd describe Narvaez as "long-time world champion" & "proven at the top-level".

No-one would be complaining if you could utter those statements about Thompson, would they?

Assume "went out in 2 against a novice" was a descriptor of both

I know you were being sarcastic, but Parsons is probably the most knowledgeable man on this thread, with a vested interest in the light middleweight British title.

According to said promoters website Walsh v Troy James is also on the bill

Apparently Richard Towers is also fighting though I wouldn't envisage its against anyone of note based on the fights already on the card.

The cards looking that stacked it makes you wonder why a couple of these fights haven't been moved onto the Bulliogni card which is looking a bit thin still unless they already have big ticket sales for it

Walsh has a world title eliminator, should be against Petr Petrov.

The Buglioni card is ok, he'll shift a lot of tickets himself and there's a couple more fights on there that aren't on the schedule, Lewis Pettitt is fighting Bobby Jenkinson for the Commonwealth title, Jamie Cox is fighting Sergey Khomitsky, although that fight appears to be doubtful right now and Jamie Kavanagh has been added to the show. Nothing spectacular but still a decent show with a couple of good fights on it.

Managed to get a bit more information from the Spanish bloke on CHB who the rumour about Soro not signing initially came from. Soro was offered $55k(£35k) for the fight and then $60k(£38k) and Top Rank agreed the deal. If he won his Top Rank contract would have been automatically extended, but there was nothing in it about what he would be paid, so he would have had to have two more fights, being paid whatever Top Rank decided to pay him. His manager Faycal Omrani, along with Sebastien Acaries made an offer of $100k(£63k) for Smith to go to Villeurbanne just outside Lyon and fight Soro there.

Thompson is probably getting well below those figures mentioned for stepping in.

Sorry to drag a bit of topic but thats a good fight that, I saw Bobby Jenkinson involved in a fight of the year contender in his last outing (beat Paul Holt for the Midlands Area title). He came in against a late replacement and as the away fighter then. Looking at his record looks like he has no problem with going on the road and upsetting the apple cart. Pettit in for a real fight there in my opinion.

Thinking of doing a treble in the 3 main fights,who do people think i should put in with Andy.

Listed 9 on boxrec two losses. One to Maidana a few years back stoppage at the weight above no shame Maidana huge puncher at light welter. The other to Dejan Zlaticanin as the away fighter. He has fought in America since and won a boxcino tournament ( not sure what that is but Liam Smiths opponent won the same )

Looks good fight on paper definitely Walshes hardest fight just hope British title at Super Feather is vacated now, Troy James has waited ages for that and there are plenty of fights to be made for the belt.
