His stoppages of Lamon Brewster, Attila Levin (34-3-0), Sam Peter and Liakhovich put him on everyone's radar.

The precise counterpunching with power from the backfoot he had shown prior to his injury was world class stuff

I'm not sure I'd waste my time explaining. Predator seems to have a thing for godly man Chisora and Rando clearly hasn't seen much of Robert to refer to him as "this Robert Helenius guy".

Pre injury he was definitely something special at heavyweight. We'll have to wait and see if he can get back to that form.

Your ''fringe'' is pretty wide. I'd say pre injury he was a contender, full stop. As to whether he is still at that level, we'll see.

He was an actual contender pre injury. It remains to be seen if he can return to that form.

If he can't, at least fringe contender is better than journeyman who has lost every big fight he's ever had...except the one against Yalda Kontratchy.

Well at least Chisora has fought for a world title.

In my opinion Helenius was and is a European title level fighter. Nothing wrong with that.

Maybe he beats Teper, progresses and proves me wrong. Personally I'm picking Teper.

Chisora back doored his way in by "winning" a moral victory against an injured contender. Kevin Johnson has fought for a world title too, but that doesn't make him any better. Del Boy has lost every meaningful fight he's ever been in.

Well he became European champion exactly the same high Helenius has reached in his career.
So that's one meaningful fight he won.

Helenius has beaten three former world Champions. Chisora has beaten his girlfriend and a guy who lost to Michael Sprott.

Yes, if a bit of trouble qualifies as 10-2 victory.

And Chisora has been in with one ACTUAL world champion for an ACTUAL world championship and got beat like a drum...just like he has against every good fighter he's faced :TU:

10-2????? It was a 10 rounder.

Also Chisora gave Klitschko a competitive fight. Something he hadn't had in a few years.

8-2, my mistake.

And Chisora won, at best, two rounds. I don't know why you waste your time defending a douche like Chisora. It's not even like a defense of Tyson or someone since he was a beast in the ring. Chisora is a bully to those who can't fight back, and has lost every big fight of his career. And after he strings together a few more wins over scrubs he'll get embarrassed when he steps up again.

My mother used to have a saying. You can't win the raffle if you haven't bought a ticket.

Chisora has fought for world titles and lost.
He has won fights at euro level which is the same level Helenius has mostly fought.

Helenius hasn't fought for a world title.

So Chisora had his ticket for the raffle and lost, he might not enter the raffle again but at least he was in it.

Personally I actually think Helenius and Chisora are a similar standard. They've always been between 10-20 in my heavyweight rankings.

Haven't a argument isn't what I use this site for. Obviously you rate Helenius higher than I do.

The beauty of boxing is in ten years time we can judge his career and see who was right.

Bet you a pint :TU:

Fair play mate, I have never rated Chisora at all but I did think Helenius was top ten before his injury. To be quite honest I too favor Teper over Robert because I highly doubt he will reach his previous form. I'm definitely for Helenius to win though, because I think he could actually challenge Wlad if he's back to previous form.

Either way, I'll see you in ten years for that pint! :TU:

I don't think he'll last long. He might get by his next opponent but he's just not that good. Chisora beat him in my eyes.

I think Teper is underrated and Helenius is now overstated IMO.

Helenius looked dreadful going to the cards vs Sprott whilst Teper demolished him inside 2.

I think Teper wins by KO unless Helenius' chin is iron.

A great match up though!

He's fighting Denis Bakhtov next, before Teper, he'll probably win that one.
Now Denis Bakhtov is a top 100 contender, but not much more as that, Anthony Joshua KOed him in two rounds (which is by far the fastest KO he has ever experienced, but still).

True, but most of boxrec top15 does not look better with guys like Tarver or Fury.

The good thing about Helenius was that he has chin, power and size - things that are impossible/difficult to improve. As to his technique and skills... well, that is different thing, but at least this is something one can work on and improve.

When I watched his fight with Peter couple of years ago, I was impressed by the knockout... and equally surprised he was not able to outbox Peter convincingly to that point.

Helenius power alone make him more of a threat to the top level fighters in the division than Chisora ever could be. They both appear to have good beards (Although the Nordic Nightmare has never truly had his checked) and i would say Robert has a more well rounded skillset by a considerable distance. The only thing Chisora had in his advantage was workrate and head movement (which he neglect after 3 rounds of any competitive fight).

Helenius may have beaten 3 former champions but none of them were close to prime. His performance against Peter was very good but Peter had been absolutely brutalized by Vitali beforehand, probably career ending.

Teper is slightly over rated at the moment after a conclusive and easy dismantling of price, not many will ever do that even with the absolute china the scouser is rolling with. Teper has a lot to prove and this is comfortably the closest matchup either of them have taken so far.

I favour teper slightly but i dont consider it an upset as such if Helenius gets the win.

Good. I like this. Teper was too big a step up so soon after his comeback. Bakhtov is a solid fighter who has been in with some of the best, tho he's now lost two of his last three. Good test. He's got Teper scheduled for just the next month so he's counting on a quick and easy KO and so am I.

Did you guys know Helenius and Wlad are both 6'6? :OhYes:

It looks like a good two inches of difference there. No way is Wlad under 6'5, so Helenius is probably closer to 6'8. Good to see he's working with the best in prep for Teper.

Helenius is doing good job in preparing for the Teper fight. Hes now sparring with Klichko and just little while back he was sparring with Povetkin. Gotta dance with the best to be the best.

The show match with Bahktov is off. He will "fight" Timur Musafarov instead.
