Gutted about this - assume that flights cannot be changed or if they can they hit you with so many fees / admin charges you may as well book another flight entirely?

Sickener,gutted for Fury and the travelling fans who'd bought tickets,thats the last 2 Boxing Monthly's where the featured fights got pulled,last month it was Lee-Saunders

Does anyone know if tickets can be refunded? Flights we're almost disposable they we're that cheap and the hotel has free cancellation. I've learnt the hard way before to cover your bases with fights like this. cheap still gutted though.

£13 out to Weeze from stanstead and not a whole lot more back from Cologne.

When Haye pulled out they said the tickets were refundable or we could use them for the Chagaev fight instead.

I'd imagine it's the same here - refund or rescheduled date/oppo.

Doubt Fury will fight another person out in Dusseldorf and imagine the card will be pulled? Could big brother Vitalli step in?

So the fight looks likely to be pushed back a month. I'd prefer mid December as Duss is great then and I'd go.

Can't blame Wlad for pulling out just like Haye did. they dont need Fury for a payday whereas Fury badly needs them.

good point, singing after a fight or going to a press conference in a batman costume or having a rant on twitter are exactly the kind of things that tend to cause injuries in opponents

My point is i doubt very much Wlad is injured, just like Haye wasn't. I think they just dont want Fury having the payday.
Sooooo if he hadn't of so personal in his insults etc (not choice of attire) maybe they wouldn't begrudge him the fight

Postponements of fights usually decimates the travelling support. Call me cynical, but I forecast that is what K2 have done, especially after a few of Fury's lot where shouting and being extremely hostile at the press conference.

I have already seen several fans on social media, declaring how much they will probably lose as a result of this, and they will just write it off and watch on TV now.

I've always urged people to be really cautious booking boxing trips, and to only make reservations for their stay etc - and hold off buying flights until the death.

This is incredibly frustrating, but it's the fans who booked flights and hotels, Mick Hennessy and the Fury team, that you have to feel for in this situation. A certain promoter who gets some stick for fights being cancelled/postponed might have permitted himself a wry smile now that Sky is in the same boat. It's not much fun.

Fights get postponed all the time. Glyn had incredible bad luck with fights being cancelled. I wrote a piece about it for the website on the anniversary of his passing. Three times Glyn travelled overseas for big fights only for the shows to get cancelled the day before. There was the big Hong Kong show that was to have featured Frank Bruno vs Ray Mercer (cancelled due to financing difficulties the day before the event), the Tyson vs Buster Mathis Jr fight in Las Vegas (it clashed with the much more attractive Bowe vs Holyfield rubber match at a different property in Vegas; ticket sales were poor for Tyson vs Mathis and the plug was pulled at the last moment when Tyson mysteriously hurt his thumb), and then there was Holyfield vs Akinwande at Madison Square Garden, when Akinwande failed a routine day-before-fight medical (hepatitis). Rotten, rotten luck.

When I was editing BM in London in the early 1990s, I spent literally weeks writing and producing a supplement on Tyson vs Holyfield when the fight got cancelled due to Tyson suffering a rib injury. The supplement never got to the printing stage, never saw the light of day. It's part and parcel of the publishing business. In team sports, if a player is injured before a big game, the show goes on. In boxing, when one of the contestants in a superfight gets an injury before the fight, it's a disaster.

Wlad talks of a "minor injury". We did a piece in BM not so long ago about boxers who "fought hurt", such as Larry Holmes going into the Ken Norton fight with a biceps injury. I believe Dave Ryan went into the rematch with John Wayne Hibbert (which Ryan won) while nursing tender ribs. Not saying Wlad should "fight hurt", but a lot of fighters have done it through the years. Sometimes it has been unfair to the fans — poor Genaro Hernandez going into the De La Hoya fight having had his nose broken in sparring, didn't want to miss out on his biggest purse by far. As soon as Chicanito got hit squarely on the nose, the nose "went", fight over. Sometimes, all has gone well: Holmes vs Norton, big-hearted Terry Downes (one of my all-time British favourite fighters) going into the Paul Pender fight at Wembley after getting cut on the bridge of the nose in sparring. Talk about tough.

Two covers in a row devoted to forthcoming fights, both fights called off. In the States they call it a "double whammy". Lightning can indeed strike twice. Very sorry for the fans, though. Changes to flights mean, in most cases, cancellation penalties. The frustration factor can't be measured. One thing, though: The fact that Klitschko is postponing the fight due to a "minor injury" (Wladimir's words) shows he is taking Fury seriously -- very seriously.

I might still go to Dueesdorf anyway and go and see a German football game.

Thats what me and a few mates are doing.

Paid£80 for flights, Not massive amounts of money (Still not nice to loose it) so going anyway.

Exactly, direct flights had climbed from about £85 when the fight was announced to about £275 and could easily have hit £350-£400 by fight week.

Fury needs to keep calm, don't go crazy, take a nice holiday, then get back on track for a likely December shot...hope someone has a word with him, these things happen & it could well work out well for him in the long run. Decembers not far off ....
