Was just reading about him - sad end, truly gifted writer. I'd love to write another boxing book, but quite what on, I just don't know. I believe it was unfinished but patched together using his notes. It's understandably short, but certainly enjoyable and really gets into Tyson's head. Amazon sell it:

Don McRae has recently released a biography of Emile Griffith which I've not read yet but hoping to get as a Christmas present !

I'm not sure we know one another that well yet, = perhaps hint to a family member or loved one?

He did indeed. He also wrote a couple of excellent books about Joe Louis.

Obligatory mention of 'Unforgivable Blackness", one of the best books and documentaries about boxing ever made

Jonathan Rendall's books were really good. Rest in Peace. I likE Donald MaCrae too although I think he's the writer who gets a bit bogged down with his own guilt at being a white South African in the apartheid era (forgive me if i have mixed up my authors, I'm going from memory.)

I am reading a few boxing books at the moment, I will post my thoughts and review.

I was a bit disappointed with Tyson's autobiography, not that much about boxing, more about how much he drank, banged women and did coke. He manages to fill a thick book with that.... But it gets a bit boring.mhe basically comes off at a complex, but exceedingly self centred and quite nasty individual
