Sounds like we should all just stop picking heavyweight fights - I was utterly convinced Stiverne would ko Wilder within 2 rounds, told anyone who'd listen and even encouraged a few of my mates to put some money down on it (fortunately I was the only one stupid enough to bet on it). But to this day, I'm still convinced Stiverne could have knocked out Wilder if he wasn't so fvcking lazy - and Wilder's recent performances have done nothing to waver this belief.

Amen to that mate...the heavyweights are a nightmare and I always give Mr William Hill a serious bodyswerve when there's a fight on ..
To be fair, plenty of folk are not Wilder believers either and Stiverne was almost an 80s retro act both during and before the fight.

I could be wrong...but didn't he do that whole Don King heavyweight thing of just disappearing off the radar for months on end and having a massive party/spending bender...clean forgetting he might need to fight and earn again?

The curse of Don - 'have a party Baby and pay me later' - would seem to cross the decades.

From when I saw him in Seoul onwards I was convinced that Bowe was going to be the greatest heavyweight ever and whilst his trouble with soft living was known to me, I overestimated his fall from grace and with it had Golota on a pedestal that was undeserved.

I was convinced that Dawson was just too skilled a boxer for a crude slugger like Stevenson.

I also couldn't understand why anyone was picking Cotto over SGM, although I probably just wasn't paying enough attention to how much the old boy was being held together with support bandages.

Fancied DLH to do a number on Hops. God only knows why.

The immediate standout for me was that I thought Juanma Lopez would beat Orlando Salido.

I'm willing to admit I thought Ruiz had a real chance against Jones, and at the time if I had to pick, would have gone with Ruiz.

In my defense, I used to drink a lot. Seriously though, I thought Ruiz would rough Jones up and land some sneaky shots. I saw it a bit like Clinton Woods, but more successful type of situation if you get my meaning.

But yeah, didn't quite pan out that way.

That's pretty clearly my worst pick ever, and I've made some really bad predictions .

I put £50 on malignaggi to beat Hatton on points. That's the most I've ever bet and I was sure I was on to a winner, how wrong I was.

Too many to mention for me. One that stands out is Willy Wise to beat Jawaid Khaliq. Based purely on the strength that he once beat a faded JC Chavez I thought he'd know way too much for the taxi driver. I had a sum on him to win that still makes my eyes water today and worse still persuaded 3 of my friends to part with well over a grand between them. This was 2001 and the bitterness of one mate continues to this day I suspect given I am in his phone as 'Willy Wise'.

On-Topic: my uncle told me Michael Spinks was going to embarrass Mike Tyson. Since then, I have confidently picked the boxer in boxer-versus-puncher match-ups, & much like my uncle, I am often spectacularly wrong.

I never picked Salita or McCloskey, or Malignaggi over Khan I definitely picked Earl over Khan though.

Overall I am a chunk down on Khan yes, Prescott being the sole winning bet :(

Just reading through some old prediction threads using the magical google tool of site:boxrec.com/forum salita AND khan etc and it appears I actually picked Khan to KO Salita, and to beat Malignaggi...don't remember if I had money on those but I did pick Khan more than I thought

Collazo had some hype behind him from stopping Ortiz. (Who turned his back and quit) Collazo had lost every big fight he had been in, and had not done anything in several years. His KO % is less then Khan's. A little research saves money.

surprised nobody has admitted to picking Tyson overLewis, although to be fair I think a lot of those who were picking him were less knowledgable than most of those on here!
