When are Andy Lee and Ryan Burnett moving to Mcguigans Gym? I reckon he will let Booth keep Eubanks Jr as an xmas gift.
Spot on. His change in style has been quite extreme. And the power on his shots seems to have dipped drastically. Needs to go back to that David Haye style if he can.G0mez wrote:It's good that Groves has sorted out his training set-up and is getting back on the horse.
This is plainly a confidence-builder for him.
Personally I think he probably needs a longer break myself, but obviously they are doing what they feel is for the best.
He's looked lethargic since Wembley, like his feet are sometimes stuck in the mud. I dont know if thats from the heavy KO he suffered, making weight or a combination of both.
He needs to find some of the old explosiveness again. Rather than toiling away to victory with workrate, which plays somewhat to his weaknesses. Picking his punches more again and bringing in more timing and distance. Hard, heavy bursts rather than throwing leather for throwing leather's sake.
Summed it up brilliantly, he took a big hit on his ego too. Very tough to recover from that. McGuigan is a decent move for him, happy to see Haye and Groves together. He needs to feed off Haye. Spar him etc. I think he really looks up to David as a mentor, as he brought him through the paid ranks.danamba7 wrote:Spot on. His change in style has been quite extreme. Hi Spud, are you going to be working with David Haye again since he's coming back...Spud wrote:Trainer rumours are its Shane McGuigan
Probably a little scared to commit the same way since Froch took him apart.salaambrown wrote:Summed it up brilliantly, he took a big hit on his ego too. Very tough to recover from that. That is a piss-poor main event but the card itself should be decent, Hibbert vs Martin and Ryder vs Khomitsky should be good scraps.ElJefe wrote:Awful fight. This is headlining a show?
Swear Hearn has mentioned a few times that he's got so many fighters and a limited amount of dates on Sky, but he's happy enough to waste one on this? Di Luisa has no stand out wins, was stopped by Bute in 4 a few months ago and retired against Rebrasse who has 6 KO's in 30 fights. What's the point?
who would he beat for a world title at 175? The top 8 would all take him out IMO, a few of them quite badly.Hillman Imp wrote:I'm surprised he's not moving up to 175lbs, that's the usual path when a fighter loses a couple.
would he carry POWWWAAA like Boomer tho?Hillman Imp wrote:Good point, perhaps he could do a Bellew, hit the pies and go all the way to 200lbs?
