Lenny using the head most of the fight. Illegal.
It is not possible, the doctor stopped the fight. If the ref thinks that the headbutt was unintentional, the fight should have gone to the scorecards.skanksta wrote:the butt that did the damage looked pretty accidental to me.
It was a (good) dirty fight - shoulda been a point off maybe, but let them carry on fighting.
:(

The judges had him ahead. I had Nieto just in front. Shocking refereeing. That guy needs to have a word with himself. Ruined a very good fight.ILikeBeer wrote:Hopefully there's a rematch.
I didn't score it, but I got the impression the judges were giving Lenny a bit of a hometown. Nieto looked to be narrowly ahead. So in a just world, it'd have been a draw and Lenny would've lost on points anyway.Stuarty30 wrote:The judges had him ahead. I had Nieto just in front. Shocking refereeing. If its accidental (which it clearly was) then the referee has to go to the score cards. No way was that a DQ and no way did it even remotely look intentional! You have to feel for both guys here. Great fight and the two guys put everything into it! Frustrating not to get a definitive conclusion. A rematch should be ordered by the EBU and that ref needs a swift kick to the peas! Incompetent bellend!Coachmanager wrote:It is DQ for me. Lenny goes like a bull and he hit with his head, if the doctor think Nieto can't continue, the ref has to dq Lenny.
Yeah you're correct about the hometown comment IMO anyway. I had the Spaniard just ahead but it was pretty messy and hard to score. I thought Daws looked every inch his 36 years in there at times tonight. In saying that, if the ref had done his job properly then they would've went to the scorecards and Daws would be the new champ. Far too many question marks over this fight in any case. Hopefully they both heal up sharpish and get it on again.ILikeBeer wrote:I didn't score it, but I got the impression the judges were giving Lenny a bit of a hometown. However, there's enough referee divvery for there to be a rematch, in my opinion.
He's led with his head. Any time you have your head in front of your foot you're in trouble. Might not have been an intentional butt, but he led with his head and that's a foul. Bet the Channel 5 cheerleaders would have been screaming if the Spaniard had done thatStuarty30 wrote:If its accidental (which it clearly was) then the referee has to go to the score cards. The two of them were leaning and falling in all night. It was a messy fight and the clash that caused the cut was accidental. Doesn't matter how you dress it up. The ref had an absolute nightmare and ruined a very good fight. In no way should Daws have been DQd. If you start chanting for DQs after that type of thing then we're on a slippery slope.gobbles wrote:He's led with his head. Any time you have your head in front of your foot you're in trouble. I hardly saw Nieto falling in at all. Daws was the one getting warned for using the head, Nieto was very stand-up but threw low a lot. Can't remember him going in with his head. The shame was, when Daws leaned in he was far less effective. When he boxed, he did wellStuarty30 wrote:The two of them were leaning and falling in all night. Daws looked tired and was more noticeable but Nieto was guilty as well especially in close. I had Nieto up at the time of the stoppage but it was a bad stoppage IMO. Was a rough fight but a good fight and I think the referee was wrong at the end. Even afterwards he was gesturing with his head as if Daws had butted him intentionally and that's just a nonsense.gobbles wrote:I hardly saw Nieto falling in at all.
