Any one where Gary Richardson interviews them.

Gary:"You accepted an opponent at late notice, Howard. He wasn't very good, was he?"
Eastman: "I'd never say that opponent."
Gary: "I appreciate that, but he was a bit poor wasn't he?"
Eastman: "No, he was a tough competitor he took me a good few rounds."
Gary: "Yes, but to be fair, he didn't do much else did he? Surely you'd want to be fighting better people."
Eastman: "Like who? Name me a boxer."
Gary: "Errrrrrrrrrrrr.............."

Your always, Well done Gary, another unbiased, well informed interview. :TU:

That was funny, almost as funny as Eastman v Beardsley that preceded it.

That bout should never have been sanctioned.

But Richardson couldn't name ten fighters let alone someone specifically from the Middleweight top ten.

Having said that, in 2004, I doubt anyone of us could name the middleweight top ten - the division is damn shallow.

Richardson was the biggest weakness of BBC coverage.

Is he the one who sounds like Douglas Hurd?

He was the one that looked like an umpa lumpa next to Hasim Rahman as the BEEB enjoyed interviewing after he beat Lewis.

Tiny bloke with misplaced courage and ZERO boxing knowledge.

Not sure of his name, but I actually quite liked him, in a boxing presenter type of way.

Apprently he's a really nice bloke, used to box himself as an amateur, so don't go fornicating him off, christ wonder what weight he fought at?

He definetly shouldn't be allowed to breed though. Not with other humans anyway.

I seem to remember Duke McKenzie winning his first World title and then breaking down in tears during the post fight interview and saying 'I thought he was going to knock me out!'

Wasn't there also a strange one with Marlon Starling after he was knocked out on the break?

did you know richardson is the basis for steve coogan's alan partridge character? maybe that's the secret of his success.

I heard Steve Coogan say that Alan Partridge was an amalgam of Alan Titchmarsh (in the days when he was a pebble mill presenter who had just got his own talk show), and someone else, perhaps it was richardson?

nah, the original alan partridge incarnation from the world today when he was the roving sports reporter to chris morris' anchorman is based almost wholely on gary richardson. coogan added some things along the way as partridge took off and got his own shows, but the original is most definitely richardson-inspired.

The Original Hurricane wrote:Dominic Negus on whether he enjoyed his fight with Audley Harrison (which went to the end of the 6th round, ie 18 minutes);

"It's better then sex, well it lasts longer."
I remember that one. It was the interview that convinced me Gary Richardson was cr*p. He said to Audley

Richardson-'U hit him when he was down Audley and u shouldnt really have done that'

Audley-'Yeah ok uv been interviewing me for 5 minutes now and I aint heard one positive thing, but yet when u interview Tim Henman and other people who lose on this channel u are singing their praises, uv got to be more positive, if u aint gonna say positive things then its better that u dont talk.'

then when he interviewed Negus he was almost commending him.

Negus - 'Iv had a great time and now I can go down the pub and u never know I might have a fight there'

Richardson - '(laughing) just make sure u dont headbutt anyone'

Negus - 'oh well hold on boom have some of that'

Richardson ' Thanks a lot Dominic'

Negus - 'Ok god bless.'

About a month later Negus tested postitive for a banned substance. Some of the interview was used a lot on Chris Moyles' radio show for a while. I cant bear Gary Richardson but that interview was quite funny.

Another bad one was the Hide interview when he lost to Kulikauskas.

Hide - 'I lost to a bum man I dunno if I wanna fight any more'

Richardson - 'U didnt lose tho.....'

Hide - 'Yeah I did its a loss on my record'

Poor Herbie was nearly in tears

Richardson - 'That cut is gonna take a good while to heal over'

Hide - '(close to break down) look at the size of it (points at cut)

also :x when Audley faught Julius Francis Richardson showed absolutely no respect towards Julius

Richardson - 'OK lets have a word with Julius for a minute then, Julius what did u think of the fight'

Julius - 'Yeah, disappointed obviou.....'

Richardson - '(Interupting) What did u think of Audley's performance.' :x

let people speak. And to think the guy gets paid well by the beeb, for doing what, interupting and being disrespectful.
