Team Golovkin MAKES Offer to Billy Joe Saunders
Re: Team Golovkin MAKES Offer to Billy Joe Saunders
GGG really should move up in weight, He Is treading water waiting for a smaller guy to move up who everyone thinks he will beat anyway. Now he's tweeting about fighting Saunders prior, who nobody wants to see him fight, then his prime target Canelo in about a year, by the time this fight happens he will be neqrly 35!. His career is starting to get ridiculous now.
FFS move up already!

No way! Not before the Alvarez fight.ALI wrote:GGG really should move up in weight, He Is treading water waiting for a smaller guy to move up who everyone thinks he will beat anyway. Saunders is a good opponent as well. It's a unification fight for a title that he's never held before.
He can be a four belt, undisputed champion, the Fighter of the Year and P4P No. 1 by the end of 2016, without needing to move up.

The WBO belt means nothing. It shouldn't even be acknowledged.Horse wrote:No way! And that's my point. GGG doesn't need that WBO belt, because it means nothing.Horse wrote:It's as good as the other 3.keithmoonhangover wrote:The WBO belt means nothing. It shouldn't even be acknowledged.
Re: Team Golovkin MAKES Offer to Billy Joe Saunders
Saunders is top 5 in the world and very few fighters have ever held all four world titles at the same time.keithmoonhangover wrote:And that's my point. GGG doesn't need that WBO belt, because it means nothing.
It would be a great achievement and it is worth pursuing.

What about the IBO and IBC titles?Horse wrote:Saunders is top 5 in the world and very few fighters have ever held all four world titles at the same time.keithmoonhangover wrote:And that's my point. GGG doesn't need that WBO belt, because it means nothing.

They are not on the same level.keithmoonhangover wrote:What about the IBO and IBC titles?
The WBO's champions are arguably better than any other ABC's set of champions.

I don't disagree in principle, but how many career defining (or even big money) fights are there currently at SMW anyway? Froch has retired & Ward barely fights but is likely to move up himself shortly. I agree with the other posters saying Golovkin should at least wait for the Canelo fight before moving up.ALI wrote:GGG really should move up in weight, He Is treading water waiting for a smaller guy to move up who everyone thinks he will beat anyway. Re: Team Golovkin MAKES Offer to Billy Joe Saunders
When its all said and done all that matters is who he fought and who he beat, a WBO belt from bashing up someone like Saunders means jack sh*t to anyone who knows and understands the sport.
His division has sucked for a while and will continue to suck for some time yet, he is too big a talent to be lingering like he is, his prime wont last much longer, hd is to old to be wasting time like he is. His handlers are obviously happy cashing their safe cheques 2 or 3 times a year, its the only reason i pressume he is not moving up, they dont want to risk their paydays.

Yeah, there's nothing special at super middleweight worth moving up for. Ward is moving up to light heavyweight and Froch has retired.Boxerbeetle wrote:I don't disagree in principle, but how many career defining (or even big money) fights are there currently at SMW anyway? DeGale or Hopkins at super middleweight are about as good as it gets.
Re: Team Golovkin MAKES Offer to Billy Joe Saunders
I know plenty about the sport and you are wrong. Saunders is a good fighter and it would be one of Golovkin's best wins.ALI wrote:When its all said and done all that matters is who he fought and who he beat, a WBO belt from bashing up someone like Saunders means jack sh*t to anyone who knows and understands the sport.
Attempting to pick up all of the big four titles is not a waste of time.
Golovkin is not likely to fight anyone better before the Alvarez fight, so I have no idea why anyone would criticize the fight.
Super middleweight is nothing special.ALI wrote:His division has sucked for a while and will continue to suck for some time yet, he is too big a talent to be lingering like he is, his prime wont last much longer, hd is to old to be wasting time like he is. Why move up when he's got a super fight with Alvarez later next year?
Golovkin would look like a right pussy.

The WBO belts means everything, if you have all the other 3 belts and not the WBO you cant be recognised as undisputed champion anymore.. so it surely counts.
Re: Team Golovkin MAKES Offer to Billy Joe Saunders
This post is spot on the money for me. I don't buy this idea of Saunders being like a hedgehog caught in the headlights, as some have inferred. He is a professional fighter who's been at it for some years now...including the best amateurs for free as coneye says. And Golovkin is just a man! Though admittedly a hard one.coneye wrote:Saunders will take it IF THE MONEYS RIGHT .. Anyone whop thinks Saunders is scared of GGG is deluded ,, he fought the likes of GGG in the ameteurs FOR FREE .. but to take this fight without earning mega dollars is stupid ,, he can make good money defending his belt against shite opposition and still get paid good money to fight GGG later on . To risk his belt and lose these smaller but plentiful paydays would be absolutly shite management , unless he gets offered a figure too good to be refused .
Has anyone ever put him under pressure? From what I remember of his fight with the Warrington fighter Golovkin's fitness, balance (guess you could say footwork) and punching power meant he was free to just punch away until it ended. I was surprised that Murray, a world number two, wasn't able to hurt him back in any way. That being said, it doesn't mean that a fight with Saunders goes the same way.
Re: Team Golovkin MAKES Offer to Billy Joe Saunders
After beating Lee BJS emerged as the number one contender to the GGG title IMO. He is a true defensive technician like nobody else in this division. Because of this he would be very hard to beat by anyone. I would probably pick him over any current MW apart from The man obviously.
I believe the best style to beat Golovkin is exactly the style BJS boxes, by sticking and moving. Maybe GGG is level above BJS and will be heavy favorite in this match up. But still because of the style and chin and unbeaten record this is a very interesting fight. Make it happen! Eubank rematch at this stage is as interesting as Pac/Brad 3 in my opinion, no intrigue.
I wonder if there is a case for Wembley event here, or is it too far fetched. Stadium fight and a local ppv might persuade GGG to travel.

Golovkin to fight Saunders, good test to see how Saunders does against potentially the best middleweight in the world right now but will frank want to risk his new world champion yet ? I don't think they will just yet

Saunders doesn't 'stick and move' past 6 rounds though.Tarkus wrote:After beating Lee BJS emerged as the number one contender to the GGG title IMO. I really hope he can because he's a very good fighter in a very good division,i know his workrate dipped again against Lee but he didnt look gassed,im hoping it was a mental thing after the critisisms of past fights especially the Eubank Jr fight and next time it wont be an issueHorse wrote:Can he change?Boxerbeetle wrote:Saunders doesn't 'stick and move' past 6 rounds though.
Saunders got the style to give Cotto nightmares but if im honest right now i would expect Miguel to catch up with him if they ever fought but if BJS puts in a busy performance next fight then i might change my mind

He didn't look gassed but Lee never made him work...I can't imagine Saunders even being able to expend the kind of energy that Murray did whilst retreating for 11 rounds, and Saunders carries nowhere near enough power to keep Golovkin off him.handsofstone wrote:I really hope he can because he's a very good fighter in a very good division,i know his workrate dipped again against Lee but he didnt look gassed,im hoping it was a mental thing after the critisisms of past fights especially the Eubank Jr fight and next time it wont be an issueHorse wrote:Can he change?Boxerbeetle wrote:Saunders doesn't 'stick and move' past 6 rounds though.

Can you provide a feasible scenario where Saunders wins? I just can't see how.

Saunders has been hiding vast reserves of stamina that he only unleashes when fighting elite level talent = Saunders wins!Boxerbeetle wrote:He didn't look gassed but Lee never made him work...I can't imagine Saunders even being able to expend the kind of energy that Murray did whilst retreating for 11 rounds, and Saunders carries nowhere near enough power to keep Golovkin off him.
