Did they check availability of Salka ?
As this fight is in Oakland maybe their commission will sanction that guy Nevada rejected for Ward last year, I think his name was Brand, I think he's Australian.

Salka is definitely a possibility.
Ward likes having smaller boxers move up to his preferred weight, and they wouldn't need to pay him much.

I am sure Bika would be up for it.
Already fought Bika and it wasn't easy. No way he asks for that work again.
Someone mentioned Alexander Brand. That's probably preferred. Plus he just fought and looked exceedingly mediocre. Rohan Murdock got a call to take the fight and said "no" because he thought it was a terrible time in his career to make that sort of step up. Maybe they look for his phone number again too.
People talk a lot of trash about Floyd, but christ, that dude never called out Monty Meza-Clay.

Ward is the embodiment of everything wrong about the sport.

The guy got emotional issues. We shouldn't judge him as a healthy person, and LOL at those who believe that he will actually get into the ring with Kovalev.

Hope we can stop with the "Ward won't fight anyone" nonsense now...but I doubt it.
It's the hypocritical statements like this that really makes us all wonder what kind of agenda you really have here on this site, KC. Is it as simple as just a black and white thing with you or is there more intelligence to it? You defend a guy like Ward, who has 2 fights in over three years and backs out of a fight by faking an injury. And out of the other corner of your mouth, you cry about how GGG doesn't fight anyone and he's a joke. Having those two opinions is tough to explain.
But it's all making a lot more sense to me now and it's pretty disappointing how shallow of pond you wade in.

It appears that Barrera as an option was suggested by Hunter, but Ward is still too greedy or just masks his hesitation with unwillingness to pay a fair money.

Money is not really an issue. It seems that it was already agreed upon before Wards no deal tweet.
Probably his is the issue. Barrera is not letting it go

It seems like this fight is on.
I think this is a very interesting fight.
Sullivan has good skills and height.
Also, he's a "real" light heavyweight.

P4P talents like Ward should not be facing guys who've never faced a good fighter in their whole career and who most boxing fans have never even heard of. Especially when they've already gone 3 years without a top opponent.

So finally Barrera fight is on. March 26 on HBO. This is the Wards most exciting fight since perhaps S6 in 2012. The winner is a real contender for Kovas crown.

Hope this fight goes ahead, it's a step in the right direction for Ward, a hungry undefeated natural light-heavy coming off a decent win against Murat.
Definitely a step up from Paul Smith imo.

Yea, it's a step up from Smith, but that's a case of damning with faint praise if I've ever heard it.

Barrera is the IBF mandatory for Sergey Kovalev and is ranked by a couple of other sanctioning organizations.
However, he is not listed in the top 10 of
The Ring or
Transnational boxing rankings.
So??
He's fighting a tune-up bout and his first fight back since he's been out for a while not to mention his first foray into the LHW division. Obviously if the man is good enough to ranked the IBF Mandatory for Kova then he's good enough for a first fight with AW.

Barrera is better than anybody Ward fought since 2011. Somebody must have pushed Andre to take this fight.

@ this silly poo.
Call it whatever you want. I guess any fighter who's been out of the ring as long as he has should come back and take on a top 10 fighter in your opinion, huh??

No fighters steps right in to top competition except Felix Trinidad after being gone for a year or more or Floyd Mayweather, I wouldn't recommend AW doing it because he had an injury and is fighting at a new weight he's never fought at before.
I'm not sure what's wrong with that, unless you're just a Hater with another agenda.

He's one of the top P4P fighters in the sport, and he just had a "warm-up" fight against a British cab driver 6 months ago.
IBF (or any ABC) rankings are utterly meaningless.
You are a silly, silly man.
That is all.

Come on. Ward finally faces an opponent of his own size, having skills and power. It is a progress. Barrera may even be better than overrated Froch and Kessler. The fight will show.

Why do you always have to result to calling names? I never come at you folks here like this but yet you come at me, I disagree with you in regards to him facing a top level fighter at LHW. That is my right to disagree with you, it doesn't make me silly because I disagree with you. You have a serious superiority complex if you think your knowledge is somehow all knowing and all true to come one silly because they disagree with your logic.
Normally a fighter takes small steps moving into a new weight class, most fighters do not go at the top fighters within their first 2 bouts when moving up in weight, they gradually build themselves into being comfortable with the weight class then they go after the bigger fish after they've gotten comfortable.
Maybe AW just isn't comfortable yet seeing that he's only taken on a British Cab Driver 6 months ago, nothing wrong with him needing more time. If that makes me silly to consider that then so be it, no need to be an @$$hole and start calling names because I disagree with you <<<(the All Knowing One).

I found this quote on another thread here and it rightfully applies to jujigatame
Forums like this are the most notorious because we often discuss hypothetical situations & folk who don't agree with you will claim you don't know anything, even though you're discussing something that has never actually happened.

Progress? A few years ago he was a #1 P4P candidate fighting other elite fighters on a regular basis. Now we're supposed to laud him for taking on some anonymous Cuban just because his last opponent was dreadful? These are awfully low standards we're holding him to.

Not worked up about the name calling but more confused about your "Superiority Complex" as though you have cornered the only thing that matters regarding this topic.
