I think Gonzo was at least a B level win but in my opinion some people read too much into it. Gonzo has looked poor for several years now, before and after fighting Russell, and I think the upset of Mares caused some people to believe that he was better than he was. I also find it laughable that some believe the win over Gonzalez suggests that Russell would beat Loma in a rematch, despite the fact that Loma is a totally different fighter than Gonzo.
IMO the Gonzalez who fought Russell wasn't any better than the Gonzalez who lost to Oquendo.

Referee was clearly on Selby's side, Hunter was fighting two men in there today.
Boxers from other countries should avoid fighting in the UK because of the crooked home officiating.

WTF are you talking about. What promotional agreements are in the way in Selby's case ? He was lucky to get the title from the mediocre champion and he knows that he would be destroyed by those three top featherweights.
LSC has ducked more then Selby has.
Maybe, but he would fight Selby no problem.
Lomo has fought pretty awfull opponents since he won the title. I am not saying Lomo is no good but the promotional agreements he has signed is the reason for the opposition quality. I am sure Lomo will fight anyone.

He warned him many times even looked like he was trying to help him by bringing his corner man over to talk to him Hunter did himself no favours

Not just the UK though. Imo, the referee of a world title bout should always come from a neutral country.

Valdez would kill Selby too.

I think I scored it 116-112. To me, it was a competitive fight. A clear win for Loma, but it wasn't like he won 120-108......
I had it wider, it was Loma's 3rd fight if they fought again it would be an even easier win.
That is just your opinion on the matter and has zero to do with Russell and Selby.

I'd bet he would, GRJ is too small and just throws for fun without great accuracy and hasn't even got a B level win yet.
Gonzalez isn't a B level win?!?
No, he was shot.
Who are Selby's big wins then?

I had it closer than most but had Selby just edging it.
Ref was harsh on Hunter. Common occurrence in a British ring now. Unusual as Mcdonnell is usually one of our best.

I never said he had any "big" wins, people were talking like GRJ is some beast in the division and would walk through Selby easily. Hunter and gradovich are solid B level wins (if Hunter had better work rate he would very good) so I don't think GRJ should be considered a level above him.

Hunter just seems to have bad attitude and just no urgency what so ever which let Selby get back into the fight.
Interesting who Selby fights next

I honestly think Gonzalez is a better win than Hunter. Grado was a good win, but that beating he took this past Saturday night either means Valdez is the real deal or Grado wasn't as solid as we once thought. I'm not a huge fan of Russell, I just don't think much of Selby.

I thought the announcers were a little rough on Hunter (they kept harping on and on about how he's the type of guy who folds when the going gets rough) but they were right that his workrate was simply not high enough in this fight.
I would like to see Santa Cruz vs. Selby. They're both Haymon guys so it should theoretically be possible.
