Problem with the opponent (Vargas). If he takes care of Vargas then looks to step up I don't see how he can get any flak. If he continues to progress after Vargas then that's what we all want to see.

To be fair though, they're not the only two guys in the division. Regarding Edward being able to get anyone over here, well if he offers enough money i'm sure they will, if not, head over to the states.

Team Brook already talked down 154 / Liam Smith etc straight after the Bizier fight because all the biggest fights are at welter. So they'd be contradicting themselves in a big way and a move in this direction would be a pretty dramatic turnaround.

Maybe people are a bit cynical?

Brook must understand though he will have to travel stateside for the big fights. He doesn't do enough numbers unfortunately in the UK.

The next logical step up would be either Bradley or risk the mandatory against Spence. Money wise he may be able to entice Spence over here but US tv may not allow it.

The Vargas fight is actually a good move forward fight. Good to face a 2nd holder of a world title.

After Brook has put in some sharp performances in the easier title defences. And getting a good opponent over at home... I'm hoping to see a really sharp, exciting and decisive display from Brook. A more dominant display than we saw when he was awkwardly effective, away from home against the favoured Porter.

I think some fans are a bit cynical when it comes to Brook mate yeah. I'm a big fan and have been since before he won the British but he's been a pro a long time now and isn't perhaps where he should be in terms of stature. He is arguably our best P4P fighter as far as talent goes but maybe lacks a bit of a mental edge. I'm hoping he can make all the critics eat their words because he has the tools to make it to the top of a very good division. He was very unfortunate after the Porter win with his injury. Massive set back after a career best win.

Definately Brook it's mental how he still makes 147 he is massive. He would probably be better at 154.

As much as I critisize Liam Smith for being a fake World Champion I really like the Brook fight. If Liam was with Hearn it would probably happen ..... On PPV of course.

Yeah, I was well disappointed Brook pulling out of that pretty decent voluntary fight with Chaves, mainly due to the guy's top10 ranking.

So Vargas found some improvement, how's he looked in his subsequent fights picking up a title?

I think any British world champ who's a home boy and plans to keep his title a longtime is going to be frustrating to follow. God knows I voiced my frustration regarding Joe Calzaghe enough on here. I think Brook is the best talent wise since Calzaghe. (Though I loved the career of Froch; after the slow beginning to his career he became a beast who win or lose went for through the jugular, proving boxing is not a dull and over managed sport).

Yeah you're unlikely to get two good fights on one show.

Warrington v Amagasa a terrific main event was an exception for me, as the Hall-Guerrero bout was pretty good.

Apparantly selby and Warrington were in negotiations for the end of august at Elland Road but Warrington pulled out because he's getting married at the end of august and wants to focus on that. Selby calling him a bottle job, etc.
