I think a lot of it comes down to the devaluing of the World belts. He doesn't care about dropping it because he knows he could happily step back down to LMW and the WBC will give him first crack at the title. The WBC should be furious that their title holder has vacated the belt, but it won't work out that way. Back in the good ol' days, if you dropped a belt, you may not get a crack at it again for 5+ fights. Now, you can happily drop a belt and just go for one of the others.

I honestly don't think Canelo can make 154 anymore to challenge for any title at LMW. its also not going to be long where he can't make 155 as well and will then start campaigning at 157 or something. Canelo just has no respect for boxing or the fans what so ever and the fans should show this respect back. Until he now starts fighting at 160 he's no longer relevant to me.

If Canelo has dropped the belt to duck Golovkin it's the most embarrassing duck since Tyson Fury dropped the British to avoid Price.

It would surprise me as well, I always got the impression Canelo was a good guy for wanting to face the best.

Roughly translated as, Golden Boy Promotions know full well that GGG makes mince meat out of Alvarez and they want no part of him.

This is not a great look for Canelo. They didn't even ask for an extension to the deadline to negotiate? The WBC allowed Canelo to take the Khan fight before the mandatory against GGG and he shows his appreciation by dropping the belt soon after. Canelo and GB had this plan all along and the idea of inviting GGG into the ring after his fight was an acting job to show he wasn't scared. It was all BS. I don't blame them for not fighting GGG but do they think we are stupid? I would have gone about this another way. This way is not very slick. This fight won't happen now. Maybe in 4 years but not now. They will wait until GGG is old and feeble.

Now, GGG doesn't even need to fight Canelo. What's the point? Now he needs to focus on Daniel Jacobs and grab that last strap.

Anyway, Trout and Kirkland are bigger than Canelo. Lara isn't as heavy but he's taller with a longer reach and used those size advantages to good effect in a close fight. Angulo is a decent size. Cotto was only slightly smaller.

Even guys like Cintron and Mosley have been around the LMW division. Ryan Rhodes spent most his career at MW.

When they fought they both scaled in at 172 ring weight. Trout therefore being taller/rangier while weighing the same edges him as the bigger man.

So the arguement usn't that Canelo only fights smaller men but his bigger opponents aren't good enough?

I'm very much pro-golovkin but i can BS where i see it. Canelo has faced everyone he could have as lightmiddleweight.

So he's not a ducker then? You think he might be turning into a ducker? That's your argument. Canelo to this point in his career has ducked nobody. He's fought awkward guys like Lara. Drained himself for the p4p no.1, he fought heavier guys in Kirkland and maybe Angulo. He fought Cotto who was looking great under Roach and maybe only slightly smaller.
