I could believe Eubanks motives were sincere , but for Chris senior's crocodile tears when Michael was injured and why they did not keep there statements private until they had spoken to Nicks family.
Just seems to me publicity on their part to look like caring human beings.
Nick always comes across as an ok guy but was badly advised for his outburst.

Why is one party devious in their intentions and responsible, yet the other Party, ok, but badly advised ? ridiculous comment. Some people bring their dislike of the Eubanks, to cloud their judgement, as they do with Amir Khan. The Eubanks have at times been over the top and cocky at times, but on this matter, I think they have showed empathy, respect and class.

Put it this way, I don't think Blackwell would have received half the donations he has so far without the Eubanks media stuff

I do think the Eubanks actually showed a bit of class ,, It was'nt Snr who wasa claiming he told jnr to go the body and save him it was , the press , he just did'nt deny it and put them straight. But they shown concern , and respect , what else could they have done .. Regards being asked to not speak to the press ,,, At the time it was big news , what were they supposed to do , put a coat over there head and run away , Yeh that would of lucked classy would'nt it ..

Blackwell rolled the dice , he lost unfortunate but true ,,, no one was to blame, he was a fighter and one who relied on toughness not defence to get through ,, we can count the lucky stars it was'nt GGG or some other big puncher , he may of never recovered .

Good post. The media tried to goad Eubank sr into claiming he had saved Blackwell, to sensationalize the story, to later knock him down, as the media always does, they conducted themselves well, despite some terrible "set up" questions by some of the media, intent on re-fueling the "ban boxing" argument. Blackwell's argument was regarding interviews and press conferences, that the Eubanks did whilst he was in a coma, unfortunately they had to be done, otherwise the press would have drawn their own conclusions. Nick Blackwell is safe, that's what matters.

The eubanks were in between a rock and a hard place. The first I saw of the "go to the body" clip was on Facebook from sky sports before I had even watched the fight. But they were asking did snr save Blackwell's life. It got me thinking, then I watched the fight and he said the same thing a few rounds before that jnr needed to go to the trunk to end it.

So the media jump all over a clip from a round or so earlier, and push the eubanks into what they meant etc. They had 2 choices.

Either say what they said and act dignified and turn the media attention onto them not the guy in hospital.

Or

Say the opposite that it was tactical etc, this leads the media to slam boxing for being barbaric in the 21st century.

I think they have acted well since it all especially with that channel 4 chunk asking jnr if he would rather have the belt or nick being healthy.

Nick is rightly upset at the comments, but something has changed regarding his attitude from shortly after he came round. I also believe that mick Hennessey releasing statements on his website regarding jnrs offer of giving nick the belt are petty and pointless.

I don't think the Eubanks did anything wrong personally. What are you supposed to do in that situation? It's not like there's a template or anything.

That said, anybody having a go at Blackell needs to have s word with themselves. He's lost his livelihood and has had a head injury. It's got to be a terrible time for him.

Ugly episode for British boxing and hopefully it all blows over soon and life moves on.

I concur wholeheartedly. Blackwell's been through the mill, he's allowed an outburst.

Indeed and Eubank Jr was planning on giving the Lonsdale belt to Nick at the hospital but they refused his request to visit. Nick is a true warrior but needs to show more class. Eubank did nothing wrong here.
Someone please educate me how Jnr offering the lonsdale belt as is a gesture of good will ? might be a good publicity stunt but the bloody belt is not his property to give FFS :-?

you can buy the belt from the board, as you can the area belts, otherwise you have to defend 3 times.

Has there ever been a situation where the winning fighters team went against the BBBC and the injured fighters family wishes by calling a 2nd post fight press conference ? i can't recall one .
Why can I remember Eubank Snr and Benn all issuing statements through the board of control in past tragic fights ?

The Eubanks are easy targets. Old man has always been a touch strange with his accent and the way he carries himself but I've always admired him.

You have Billy Joe Saunders and the like who slag him off and try to take the piss, but despite appearances and attitudes he's always been much tougher than all of them and more a "fighting man" than they'll ever be. He had it harder than any of his naysayers and yet doesn't have the chip on the shoulder that all these others do. He's been hated since he appeared on the scene, yet he still smiles and takes it all in his stride.
It must wind them up big time!

Yep. Have to agree with this. Snr is a weird guy but a true original and people forget he is absolutely hard as nails.

I think you underestimate BJS and our culture when you say Snr is more of a fighting man!
I will wager anyone here that BJSs heart is no smaller than the weirdo "english" or anyone of his private schoolboy sons,or the son he wants nothing to do with !

What's your culture got to do with it?

There's hard men all over the world from all different walks of life.

What we can say without a doubt is that Eubank Sr was one of the toughest men ever to set foot in the ring, absolutely no doubt - Saunders, we have yet to see just how tough he is, we've not seen him have to go to the well yet.

Well my own culture is a very small ethnic minority,it has just over one million population in the uk ,they say UK boxing is doing the best its ever done with 12 world champions ,interestingly tho two of them are gypsies !
But as a very small minority we are also dominating the amateurs they say ,we have also had a fighter in the UFC , tell me another small ethnic minority with just over a one million population that has had 2 world champion boxers in the same year ?
I would love to know the math on these stats apposed to other ethnic races ,be interesting ,who's up there with gypsies ?

To be frank, I couldn't give a fiddler's fart where a fighter is from, it has no relation to what I think of them.

No such thing as one ethnicity being 'tougher' than any other. It's the individual. Eubank Snr had more hardship than any of his doubters and critics ever had and he came through it to rise to the top. I strongly suspect others being mentioned here wouldn't even have made it to pro level let alone go on to become world champ had they been given the same start in life.
In his prime? Saunders can't lace his gloves and I'm a Saunders fan. BJS has his hands full with jnr, who ain't a patch on his old man either.

Anyway if we are having to determine ethnic minorities who have amazing records, what about the handful of Welsh Italians? Two world champs simultaneously! Can't be more than a few thousand of them!
Or how about the tiny Yemeni community in Sheffield? They managed to produce a fighter better than any gypsy who has ever lived! Must only be a few hundred of them!!! :TU:
