How can anyone dare question AJ's power when he stopped the unstoppable Kevin Johnson?

He's not terrible. He's a good fighter and a top prospect. They've moved him on a bit too quickly though. The way he constantly pulls his right hand back after throwing is blatant and wide open to a slip and left hook. Someone like Haye would exploit this. He makes a lot of mistakes but that is the most glaring.

I'd still give him a fair shout against Haye now.

The division is pretty shallow talent wise so I'd give him a shout against anyone. He's quite quick and punches very hard. It's difficult to write him off against anyone. I still think Haye would give him fits though.

Joshua has had 2 fights in quick succession and Hearn said he was constantly drugs tested.
AJ said he now needs to have a break to "recharge" his batteries. I'm sure he will return even stronger.

Have you actually seen Joshua fight? If he didn't spark out guys like Whyte, Love, Avila, Skelton, Gavern, what did he do to them exactly?

He is pretty terrible. Its just that his athletic attributes are so good he d be dangerous to anyone for me.

Looks like they ve concentrated more on it than his boxing tbh. Dont think i ve seen one of his training videos yet with any boxing come to think of it.

British boxing rife atm with it. Very few technically great fighters but very very fit strong etc. Hard to knock as its bringing about decent success. Be interesting to see how it ends for him. Genuinely think hayes on another level technically to him but will it be enough to overcome joshuas size length etc.

Same with fury. Technically much better in terms of movement. But will it be enough to beat joshuas power.

I still say that no one can really say with any kind of certainty at this stage. Hopefully we find out soon enough tho.

If you look at our posts there is NO mention of either Ortiz or the word cruiserweight. We were never talking about that AT ALL.

We were talking about who had a CHANCE against Joshua and I mentioned the names Povetkin, Klitschko and Fury then you said they got as much chance as Breazeale lol (you defintely need to know that those fighters I mentioned ARE ranked above Breazeale) and NOW you reply with Luis Ortiz?? Joshua obviously isn't terrible.

Even if his boxing skills don't evolve much further, his athletic gifts will get him a long way, in a division that seems to be full of indifferent trainers with even worse technique.

My guess is, that he will probably go on to become the top dog in a very weak division, he doesn't appear to be chinny, and he has a high workrate and serious firepower, those two attributes along are enough to get him very very far in today's heavyweight scene.

So I said "2²=4" assuming you would then understand that your comment had absolutely nothing to do with my comment, like 2²=4 has nothing to do with your comment. BUT NO... Your new reaction was that everybody who fights Joshua has a chance.

Tyson fury and david haye have more talent and boxing ability than the rest of the division.

There are smaller talented guys like Cunningham and Bryant Jennings but they are just too small and have been beaten by bigger guys


Its amazing in retrospect to think back in the late 80s George foreman and tim witherspoon were considered out of shape.....next to the whytes and chisoras of this world they look like Dorian Yates.

EVen young George foreman some fools considered him lacking talent, just being pure power and brute strength. Yet there is no heavyweight fighter competing today who had his clever footwork and pivots (see frazier 1 for an example)

Yeah I agree. I thought Joshua lost the final as well, although that was definitely a close fight which could have gone either way. But Savon beat him comfortably imo.

Savon has been robbed on numerous occasions over the last few years.
He's one of my favourite amateur fighters.
I'd love to see him take Gold in Rio.

Savon would be undisputed champ if he turned pro by now. Although there is always the danger of him putting on 50 pounds like some other Cubans once they get a taste of Western life.

Why exactly do Cuba ban fighters from turning pro but allow them to travel the world and fight amateur? They seem to be the only country that does this? It's not like they are anti-boxing since they are actively engaging in amateur boxing.

Is it religious or something? Makes no sense.
