He's been fighting bums for the last 4 years and has shown no ambition to step up.

He doesn't deserve a shot at the title.

Sexton has done nothing worth a darn in 4 years.

Sprott deserves a British title shot far more than the awful Sam Sexton.

There is no reason why the Board cannot find a better challenger for the title than Sexton.

As much as I admire Sprott, I think he's done by this stage. He's been on the wrong end of a lot of nasty early KOs. Sexton might not be a world beater but he has a decent record, has been active recently and he hasn't been damaged to the extent of Sprott. Would you object to Cornish or Akinlade?

Yes, I would object to them. Why on earth should the Board have to go that far down the rankings to find a decent challenger for the title?

Like someone said, they should have eliminators for the lower ranked heavyweights to make the winners somewhat credible.

If none of our better heavyweights want to fight for the British title, then just leave it vacant for a while.

A fighter outside of the domestic top 10 should not be fighting for the vacant title and probably shouldn't even be allowed to fight for it as a voluntary defence either.

Well to a certain degree I agree with Horse on this one (didn't think I'd ever say that). The best thing to do is be objective about who our options are;

T.Fury - ineligible
Joshua - ineligible
Chisora - ???
Haye - not remotely interested
Whyte - No1 contender
Price - ???
H.Fury - declined offer
Cornish - ???
Allen - declined by the board for lack of experience
Sprott - basically dead
Sexton - ???

So from the list of British heavies, we have Chisora, Whyte, Price, Cornish and Sexton (without going lower in the rankings). I'm not sure if Chisora or Price are all that interested (if either are, then they should get it on). Despite Cornish's record, I think he'd still be a logical choice. I do agree that there should/could be a domestic eliminator, but I don't know how realistic it would be. I don't think Price would fight Chisora or Whyte in an eliminator. I'd be pretty satisfied if Sexton and Cornish fought in an eliminator, the winner fighting Whyte for the British title.

I don't agree that the British title should be left to 'gather dust' while we wait for a worthwhile fight. Would you tell Bradford that they couldn't participate in the league cup final because they're not very good? It should contest the two best fighters who are willing to participate. If that is Whyte and Sexton. So be it.

Chisora has said he isn't interested in fighting for a British title.

That's a poor analogy.

Sexton can either prove himself or bugger off. He should not be given a straight shot.
