David Haye's first comeback fight vs di Mori. What do you think? To me di Mori looked like he was playing the sparring partner. Mostly he just stood there like a big punching bag. He threw a couple of jabs that didn't even come close and a couple of looping hooks telegraphed a mile. It was the guy's big chance. You'd think he would have given it all he had and gone for broke, no? Di Mori's record was 30-1-2 with 26 KO's and he hadn't lost in 25 fights. Nope, I don't buy it.

Jeez was that a ridiculous dive or did the guy have some medical problem that caused him to fall down like that? It was so absurd. When you take a dive the objective is to try to fool the spectators not make them laugh or yell and throw stuff. Did you hear Green go off on him, and they said they were friends before? It isn't as if Briggs was some bum off the streets either. He had two very close losses to Adamek. He had been retired from boxing though.
There were huge bets on a first round KO from crims.

He had been retired for 3 years.
His new friends should have sent him for a couple of acting lessons.

Mark De Mori is just that bad, he got knocked out in a round by a sub 200pounder with a losing record.

That was his one and only loss 26 fights and 11 1/2 years ago, and even if he were that bad it wouldn't explain him playing the role of the passive sparring partner, that is to say a guy who is getting paid to fall down, take a dive.
Hey's next comeback "fight" was even worse.

DeMori was just out classed. Nothing suspicious about a d level fighter getting beat by am A level fighter.
DeMori was outclassed by speed power and ring iq.
Nothing fake about it

De Mori was 0-0 against non-bums, though. Haye was ten million times better than anyone De Mori had ever shared a ring with. Even if De Mori actually had some theoretical ability, he had 0 experience applying it against an opponent with a pulse. He did try lunging at Haye with a superman hook, and Haye escaped it with a gap several feet to spare. The speed difference was so humongous, it was absurd. No one gives Haye enough credit for his absurd speed.

"He did try lunging at Haye with a superman hook"
Not really. It wasn't a serious punch. It was just for show. The guy wasn't trying. He was basically just standing there playing the passive sparring partner.
How'd they come up with a very successful club fighter from so far away, from Australia, for Haye's first comeback fight? Aren't there plenty of fighters who live close by who would have loved to have gotten a once in a lifetime shot at the big time - and given it all they had in that big opportunity?
The last phrase is the key. They didn't want that. They didn't want any surprises to mess up their cash cow. They had to shop around a lot before they could find someone with a good looking record who would agree to just stand there and get knocked out for a pile of money.

This man is a disgrace to the long and proud tradition of 'tanking' - I remember a day when they called such men artists (as in 'high-dive artist) - but not anymore, these days they'll let just about anybody 'throw a fight' - where are the standards? - what we we need is federal regulation of fixed fights; when I pay for a ticket, I expect to be properly deceived - the fight game just isn't what it use to be

Boxing was outlaw and crooked right from the beginning, but it just gets worse, much worse. They hardly even bother to hide it now. Back then sure guys were throwing fights but they'd put some artistry into the show, and the mugs running the shows had the decency to stay in the shadows whereas now they prance right up on stage. Even the bought and paid for refs and judges were much more discreet about performing their services back then.

Damned right he was punched... A short right 45 to the head at 7:17 of the video.. Nobody falls like that unless they're completely knocked out cold
Tupou provided half the force.. He ducked under what he mistakenly believed was a left hook, but it was a feint.. He met a right 45. The impact is audible.

De Mori was tagged with vicious shots earlier in the round. If he was going to tank he would have done it then. Haye is one of the best and fastest punchers in the world and one of the most skilled boxers. Di Mori is not skilled. He's one of the more hittable Heavyweights to ever hold an impressive record like that. You don't see any big names among those 30 guys he beat. His record was fluffy -- just like the next chump Haye fought.
If you can sell out arenas by fighting carefully selected cherries like that -- why fight anybody who's an evenly matched threat who might kick your ass?

I just watched that one for the first time including the slo mo pictures. Parker's left missed and the right tapped him on the back - which may have been the signal. My vote: Dive.

He would have been instructed to hang in there for a while at least, as long as he can, and not make it too obvious and hit the deck immediately like some of the other idiots on this thread. Point is he wasn't fighting back. He wasn't trying. He knows how to fight. He's experienced and a winner and looked strong and in good shape but he wasn't trying. He was acting like a sparring partner,

The second David Haye fake comeback fight, worse than the first. The announcers were shilling it up for all they were worth, screaming "thunderous right!" and the like - but even the announcer allowed that the first fake knockdown punch only hit Gjergjaj's glove. The second one in rd 2 was just a silly powerless jab. The knockout takes the cake though and competes with the "best" of them on this thread.
Gyerg hears the bell at the end of rd 2 and realizes, uh oh, I was supposed to go down in rd 2, so for no particular reason he slides down the rope to the floor.
The second video shows just how much real punishment from real punches the Albanian can take in a real fight and then come right back. It shows excerpts from his fight with the legitimate heavyweight contender Bakhtov.

Haye-Gjergjaj was NOT fixed. Your undefeated fighter got EXPOSED. I've been there myself. We all have to deal with it when we want an undefeated guy to win and he gets his butt kicked.

DeMori had a padded rrecord and a ranking far greaterthan he deserved. IMO that's why Haye chose him he's a substandard boxing with a good ranking. I don't think it was a dive myself.

British fights are notorious for being fixed.
The UK market is extremely lucrative, compared to the US counterpart.
Haye, Price are just some examples.
Often the visiting fighter comes for a paycheck ( see Manfredo vs Calzone).
And if the fight itself isn't fixed, the referee ( "another british stoppage...") or the judges will rescue the day.
But as i said, it isn't just the UK. Simply look at the recent comeback fight of Mickey Garcia vs Rojas.

Gyerg was not "my" undefeated fighter. How was he "my" fighter? I never heard of him before. Look at that nonsense at the end of round one! Give me a break. Compare the real punches that Bakhtov was winging at him with the nonsense from Haye - and the idiot announcers shilling it up to the max with their hysterical shrieks of "thunderous blows". The announcers are reading from a script that has almost nothing to do with what's going on - "thunderous punches" - "Gyerg is complaining about blows to the back of his head"...All I see is Gyerg doing his silly sliding down to the floor thing. I don't see him complaining about anything. Puh-leeze. This isn't real. This is Wrestlemania material.
