I think it was more about raising awareness of the charity he is representing than him promoting himself.

Cancer has been around longer than Haye, everyone knows about cancer. Haye has done this to promote himself off the bakc of a nasty disease, why say he has an opponent making people in the boxing family believe that he is going to announced his next opponent. He could simply put up a cancer ad on his twitter account and his many fan would see it.

I find it a little distasteful to be honest

He's supporting a worthwhile campaign and by saying he has an announcement to make tomorrow he built up some anticipation for the reveal and got people checking his twitter feed all day.

It's disappointing that it wasn't announcing a fight, but he didn't say it was going to be a fight. So you've been duped, but that was the whole point, to raise as much awareness as possible.

It's funny that you're all so worked up when he's actually doing something positive.

People just like to criticise Haye, even when there's nothing to criticise him for.

There was a thread on here stating, entirely without evidence, that he hadn't given the promised money to Nick Blackwell.

Calm down people - I would much rather hear that Haye is supporting a tremendous cause rather then him announcing that he is fighting another bum on Dave or the comedy channel.

This is true; at least this is worthwhile, although he could have just announced it from the off, rather than announce that he's going to announce something, which is hugely annoying.

Well, after all it was basically Briggs who payed it and Haye who walked away with the fame, name and honour. The Briggs fight was way more interesting as the Daffy vs the worm fight. And so the Briggs fight was a serious moneymaker. And that while Briggs his opponent nearly went to distance when he fought the worm. In other words, Briggs is clearly a massive step up compared to the worm.
