Tony Sibson as he was stopped by Dennis Andries in a WBC title fight at Light Heavyweight which interestingly was also a British title fight too and also stopped at Middleweight by both Marvin Hagler and Frank Tate.
Think Sibson lost on points to Finnegan over 15 rounds in a British title fight?
He did in a European title fight in 79. But I read it as in a world title fight though.

How good was Reeson? I know he challenged for the world cruiser title but I've never seen any of his fights.

Well I think he was history's first British and Euro champ and boxed for the world title, so I consider that world class.

I met him some years ago and he said he was given 6 weeks notice when he was holidaying in the West Indies weighing over 15 1/2 stone when he got the call. Definitely world class. Anyone who boxed for a world title has to be considered as such. Except maybe Damon Reed

We came up with Hatton and Bruno. Can you list any others? More might come to mind when I'm actually sober

Jamie Cox @ a stretch ?
I still remember the Obadai Sai fight.

Had a big bet on Sai by decision and covered the draw.
That fight still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, allegedly.

Yeah I'll check him out on YouTube. Though I think there are quite fighters who've challenged for world titles without being world class. But someone who's won British and Euro titles is usually a justified world title challenger.

Him and Katsidis are, along with David Tua, very unfortunate that they never saw the spoils of being genuine world champions.

There's been a few Aussies who, in a different time, would have been legends, but have had the misfortune of being active during the period of all time greats.

Before Burns fought Katsidis I thought he was getting pummelled!

Tua could have been champ in his own era with better connected promoters. One title fight! Vs a peak Lennox Lewis! And yet how many shots did his victims get? John Ruiz? 10 or so WBA title fights, and he couldn't last 20 seconds with Tua. How many shots did Rahman get? And Maskaev?

That's true but to be fair you could say the same about any era and any weight!

Tua's problem, bit one paced and one dimensional. He'd flirted with disaster before the defeat in a Great War to Ike Ibeabuchi, with some very late finishes behind on points vs Maskaev and David Izonritei. And after, with Rahman.

Put too much weight on as well.
