He was unable to cut the ring, he was unable to land power punches and showed no ring intelligence. All he showed was his lack of speed. And he ain't gonna be faster getting older.
And Scott even didn't try to win! Forget winning, he didn't try even to punch

Just came to pick up the check and visit France...
He cut off the ring fairly well in the early rounds. He just couldn't get his shots off. He wasnt impressive at all really. Very one dimensional.
The commentary talked about getting rounds in. At 37 ( allegedly ), why would he want to be getting rounds in!?

I watched as long as I could. I won't judge Ortiz too harshly until I see him in a real fight. I agree with whoever said Scott needs to have his purse withheld. This will be the last fight against any top contender by Scott. He was beyond pathetic imo.
Ortiz still looks like a top ten guy to me, and look forward to him vs Wilder, Joshua, Parker, Fury, Haye, etc.

It's the hipster thing. Every popular boxer/film/beer is overrated by the "casuals", every lesser known boxer/film/beer is underrated and only appreciated by the "purists"
Everybody likes being right, but even better is being right when everyone else is wrong. Call out the latest 100 "hype jobs" and you only have to be right once.

"He fled to Miami, specifically the 5th Street Gym that Muhammad Ali called home, to join the paid ranks but has remained no more than a haunting figure in the nightmares of world heavyweight champions...
"Ortiz, who at 37 is battle-hardened yet unscathed... and it will take serious force to drag King Kong down from the tower."
Now that Luis Ortiz has signed with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Promotions, he’s automatically affiliated to Sky Sports.
Therefore, it’s easy to predict that Sky Sports will now start marketing his name heavily, but
do you think they’re going overboard?
With the benefit of hindsight, after witnessing Luis Ortiz’s performance against Malik Scott, does anyone believe the comments made in the above post are incorrect or unreasonable?
Has anyone reevaluated their thoughts about Luis Ortiz's talents and potential?

I think Ortiz would make a great ambassador for 'fit 40's' ... Either he's well into his 40's or spend his early years living on crack..

Any guy who faces a world class guy who can punch and went 12 rounds should NEVER get their purse revoked. Did he try to win probably not but he took punches and threw punches from a professional boxer for 12 rounds should account for something. Now that guy who was 28 or 29-0 who fought David Haye recently is different story.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. To me a boxer has to give at least some effort to be competitive in the fight, and not just run or be in survival mode the whole time. It was pathetic to watch a professional boxer put on a performance like that, imo. Scott will fade away much like Clottey did after the Pacquiao fight. I hope he enjoys his money.

There's professional loser in a lot of these countries especially in the UK. Where they fight once or twice a month against prospects and some have over 50, 60, 70 loses they learn how to survive and sometimes pull off a win. I guess they shouldn't get paid either because a lot there give a little effort but are outgunned and fight another week. I guess they don't serve a purpose and shouldn't get paid either and they don't fight world class guys for 12 rounds outgunned.

There's a reason why Malik Scott was a massive underdog when he faced Luis Ortiz, it was because he was selected by Matchroom Promotions to lose spectacularly. The intention was to include the heavily-tattooed American to the Cuban's KO victim highlight reel that would have been used by Sky Sports to showcase his talents.
Anyone that witnessed Scott's bouts against Chisora and Wilder would have realised he was a fleet-footed feather-fisted runner with questionable desire.
Eddie Hearn should have been aware of Malik's fighting style prior to matchmaking him against 'King Kong'.
Like most journeymen, Malik Scott only took the fight for the pay cheque, to provide for himself and his family. He adopted his normal fighting style against Ortiz, except he ran a bit too much during the early rounds.
However, as horrible as Scott's performance was, he was never capable of troubling Ortiz, but he earned his dollars, because he made the Cuban look very ordinary and also dispelled many myths that Sky Sports had perpetuated.
To suggest that Scott should have had his fight purse withdrawn, is quite simply unreasonable, because it was Ortiz's responsibility to make the fight exciting by disposing of his overmatched opponent in a manner that justified his "fearsome" reputation. And even Eddie Hearn has conceded this point!

They must didn't pay him enough to take the plunge!
