No. The board shouldn't allow the fight. It's their job to stop complete mismatches like this happening and to protect boxers.
If that was the case then no main events would have undercards.

Horrendous mismatch.

As far as saying "well no main events would have undercards"... That's not strictly true is it? There's mismatches on every card, but usually a fighter gaining prominence and on the way up against someone who's been round the block a bit and takes losing regularly.

Ortiz is, putting personal opinions aside, widely regarded in the top heavyweights in the world. The top 5 to 10 or so anyway. Allan is ridiculously inexperienced to be taking on Ortiz. That's why it's being dubbed horrendous.

If Allan had beaten Whyte, or even made some in-roads towards being the best in Britain, I'd have seen this as a more plausible fight. As it is, I just hope it does no immediate damage or long-term (what with his recent battles with mental health issues) for Allan.

Sparring is sparring etc but Allen has been in with all the big European heavyweights and acquitted himself pretty well by all accounts.

Imagine Eddie's face if Allen pulled it out the bag lol.

Also goes to show what a shithouse Price is.

They should just have decent match ups. Fighter A who is 17-0 shouldn't be allowed to box Fighter B, who's 3-53

I think its sad to see Dave has chosen to be just a short notice journeyman type now.He will never know how far he could have gone if he stuck to being built up gradually,he has so much time to improve aswell.

Id would have liked to see him lose the weight and try and make cruiser and get built up rather than this.Good luck to him but this is a ridiculous mismatch.

No, much, much worse. This is a top 10 guy with top 5 heavyweight power against a guy who might not be top 75 but who has a great chin. Look at what just happened to Gutknecht who is much better than Allen against a much lesser puncher in Groves. Allen is too brave for his own good and could take a life-changing beating here if the ref and his corner aren't sensible.

Fair enough, a slight exageration on my part.

But there's a good chance Molina last no longer and ends up just as unconscious as Allen does

Not being funny but the Anthony yarde match is a total mismatch, has anyone seen the weigh-in for this fight what a fooking joke, I'm more concerned for yardes opponent tbh. Comical matchmaking.

Joke of a fight.
Have to agree, Allen seems like a top geezer but I think he's gonna take a right hiding here. From what I've seen of Ortiz I think he'd beat AJ let alone a guy like Allen.
you obviously didn't see Ortiz's last outing then.

I think AJ would beat Ortiz, but Joshua fights nothing like Scott and Ortiz wouldn't have to go looking for him nearly as much. AJ would also be throwing many more shots and hence leaving more opportunities for counters.

Ortiz looked very Chisoraesque in his last fight , the first time I had even seen him fight live and was very dissapointed TBH.

Maybe just an off night .

Ortiz looked poor but that was due to Scott constantly moving backwards, style wise Allen is taylor made for Ortiz.

Don't disagree with that , It was the AJ comment I was refering to.

It is well known that he is a punchbag in sparring. Hes a journeyman who spends a lot of time on Twitter.

I didn't get to see his last fight, heard it was a stinker mainly due to the opponent being terrified to commit. What I have seen of Ortiz in the past he could defiantly mix with AJ, he's fought better opposition.

And they are trying to showcase Ortiz?

Scott followed by Allen isn't only poor matchmaking but they are two of the worst fighters for Ortiz to look decent against!

Allen said all he knows is to stand and trade. God help him
he's a bullshitter then cause he didn't trade once with Dillian

He could well be one of them heavies who does ok at heavyweight because he has a decent chin, but is really a cruiser.
Problem is, the standard of boxing tends to improve the lower down the weights you go ( usually plateauing around welter down ) so technically there are better fights at cruiser than at Heavyweight. There is actually a chance he could be worse at cruiser.

Me and a friend saw Allen fight on the Brook v Kevin Bizier undercard. We agreed Allen is one of the very worst prospects we've ever seen. We were sitting on the back and an older guy came in just for Allen's fight. He was all hyped up, punching the air, pulling faces, getting stuck in. Really seemed to be living the fight. Could've been a close relative I think.

Yeah, absolutely, you can still have decent undercards without resorting to total mismatches.

I'd rather watch two 3-35 fighters than a 17-0 vs 3-35

I dont think this is a smart move for allen at all the only reason why i would think he would what the fight is a big pay day to give himself abit of security financially but i dont think the money will be good at all the way he talks about mental ilnness on twitter he shouldnt be near a ring for a good few month and try to find happiness in himself i really dont think he will cut it as a fighter and the only thing hes got going for him his a solid chin and if ortiz blasts him out there in a few rounds i dont know were that leaves maybe domestic fights but he doesnt seen to want them hes admitted he has problems gambling he suffers from depression and to my knowledge he doesnt work when hes not fighting i think it could be a very dark time for him if ortiz blasts him away

I hope allen can make a good account of himself and maybe drop down a few levels to were he should be fighting at and try to improve himself and build himself up gradually the way stefy wanted him to do when he was in his stable
