Guys are you blind or did you watch fight in low resolution?

End of fight Ruiz marked face looks like he took a beating

Parker not a mark on him looks fresh ready to fight next week.

It was a fair decision .

You probably underestimated Ruiz. Most did.
I don't think so; I see Ruiz as a fat, sloppy top thirty HW whose best win came two years ago against Sergei Liakhovich's ghost. He's fast for a fat guy. I think that's a pretty truthful summary.
Ruiz is effective. Most didn't acknowledge that pre-fight. Many seemed particularly keen not to acknowledge it - but boxing forums are full of agendas - we all know that.
Effective against the level of competition he's faced.

Boxing forums are full of agendas to be sure. I'm not sure what agenda would cause people to overlook Ruiz, aside from the fact that many of us can't take a guy with D cups seriously. If you can't even be arsed to get into shape don't expect a big following.

I had Parker winning the fight. . . .No hometown decision. The judges were from Argentina, Philippines and Germany. . . .The ref was from the U.S.

A rematch later in their careers would be great. . . . perhaps in the meantime Ruiz can win a title or re position himself for another fight.

Boxing has a history of producing unfashionable guys who just get the job done, and Ruiz is a prime example. It is impossible to beat or look good against guys you haven't fought yet.

Boxing does not, however, have a history of obesity at the top level. Ruiz has had thirty fights; how many of them have been tests for him? This isn't exactly the greatest era of Heavies we've ever seen. To somehow manage to fight 30 times with only ONE legitimate contender shows something.

Didn't Ruiz fail to stop a geriatric Liakhovic who Wilder stopped in a round and who Jennings stopped in 9?

I'm a fan of Parker but I'm not sure he won this one. Extremely close. I'd like to see a rematch in Vegas.

Even tho Parker scrapped in a win EVERYONE knows Ruiz fought better than he usually fights and Parker performed subpar.

A rematch is going to be another win for Parker but easier.

Don't assume you're speaking for "EVERYONE", since I accurately predicted Ruiz Jr's ability and also the close competitive nature of the Parker bout long before it took place.

The betting odds pretty much told the story of the fight.

The only reason Ruiz did better than expected was due to Parkers terrible game plan

Disagree. The detailed nature of my accurate prediction was built on knowledge.

ruiz won the early rounds, but as parker got his left jab going in the middle , bossed the fight ruiz just followed him round, think ruiz let that slip as i had him with a big lead in early rounds, just didn't gamble enough, close fight

I agree it isn't the exactly the greatest era of heavies we've ever seen. Add to that there are more belts than ever before and Ruiz is relevant, whether everyone is prepared to concede that or not.

One thing saw after this fight seems apparent to be true, that Ruiz is able to (let's say) handle with some B and A class fighters. His 2 months training with Abel Sanches boosted him and he and Sanches confirmed it.

- http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/1 ... hot-boxing

This thing of him overweight (compared to his height or even BMI - body mass index) depends a lot. He can lose more weight with time, if he is comfortable with it and feel that he can box like he did against his toughest opponent for now (Parker) is ok, it doesn't need to be judged without knowing the person.

Taking as an example the average HW class difference weight over height = ~29 pounds/13 kg (ex: like 190 cm = 103 kg), we can assume that bit (to) overweight good and/or great boxers like George Foreman, Michael Dokes, James Toney and Ruslan Chagaev were overweight and didn't give a fu.ck for it and boxed outstandly, so it doesn't matter too much. Lets see what is gonna happen with boxer Jun Long Zhang in next fights too (he is an overweight boxer).

Technical anybody in the top 50 is "relevant". He's yet to prove himself in the ring. He's had 30 fights and thus far hasn't proven anything except he doesn't know how to eat right and train hard.

116 - 115 Parker

Unbelievably close fight.
I was leaning towards Ruiz in the 3rd and Parker in the 5th but scored both even as too close to call.
Most of the Ruiz rounds, Parker had controlled most of it with the jabs and never did enough and Ruiz nicked it with a flurry or two
Most of the Parker rounds, Ruiz probably landed one or two heavier shots but was not active enough to claim the round

I'd struggle to make a cast iron case against anyone who disagreed with most of those rounds.

How anyone can call a fight like that a robbery is an absolute mystery to me.

So that's how you score a fight.... wish someone had told me that years ago, i'd just have counted the marks on someones face instead of wasting all that time trying to watch for silly stuff like scoring shots, effective aggression, ring generalship and defence.

I think it's fair to say either man could have put more into that fight.
An extra 5% from either man (which both had comfortably in the tank) and they'd have won that.

by 2 rounds
