Why should it fall on Groves? He has to earn a living also and ensure his family is safe and secure for generations. I'm not sure around the insurance for fighters but i'm assuming there is not any otherwise in instances like this this is where it should be used.

I assume the Gutkneckt fight wasn't a big purse in the Groves purse history. He's already made a wad out of the two Froch fights, I reckon the Gutkneckt purse might be around £150k, I think it would be a nice gesture that is all, being as the Gutkneckt family look to be on their arse and have to look after their man for the rest of his life.

It's easy to say 'someone else should pay' or whatever, but it looks like they're struggling and there was no insurance, so if I was Groves, seeing them struggling like that, I'd feel it my moral duty to give them the purse from that fight at the least. He is ultimately the man whose fists caused the damage, much as that is boxing - when you break it down without all the razzmatazz and promotion and TV, Groves stepped into that ring and gave that man brain damage. It's a brutal sport that we all follow, but at times like this I do feel like it's a moral responsibility for boxers to help if their opponent ends up on the end of life changing injuries. Only my opinion - I know how I'd feel.
