I definitely won't be paying for it.

Not sure I've ever seen that term used on an internet forum but I'm sturggling to find a better descriptive term for this PPVStuarty30 wrote:Why isn't it just on regular ITV? What a lot of pish flaps! The only reason for this is greed!

Anything over 83p and I'm calling this a rip off!Finn wrote:They haven't announced the price for the PPV yet it could turn out to be a good deal.
I could just use that money to buy a loaf of bread and watch a re run of Ricky Burns vs Nicky Cook on youtube
Represents better value in my book

Worst PPV since Graham Earl v Kevin Bennett... and I bought that one, but wouldn't touch this.
Come to think of it, at least that was a 50/50 with Tony Oakey/Peter Haymer on the undercard along with a re-run of McBride - Tyson!

Re: Eubank Jr to box on ITV PPV
maybe it will be on a dual PPV with Frampton v Santa Cruz? heard rumours a while back that Frampton was going to be fighting on ITV so maybe this is it? show starts a bit later than normal on ITV4 then the Eubank fight could be on just before the show starts in USA?

Eubank sr on undercard???
I like jr but this Move is a bit odd. He seemingly has a growing young fan base so let's see how this goes.

The casuals love a Heavyweight and Hearn trys too add Interest in the undercard with fights like Chisora Whyte and Groves-Murray which some hardcore than reluctantly put there hand in there pocket for.freddydoesdallas wrote:Why would anyone pay to watch Joshua fight a rank outsider?jamesmcdonnell wrote:I can't see this doing anything but bombing. Re: Eubank Jr to box on ITV PPV
I buy every Sky PPV, and subscribe to BocksNation (prefer the £12 a month on BN to be honest) but can't see myself paying for a one off Eubank fight against a fighter I have never heard off. Will prob watch the undercard on ITV4 and then set record to whatever top class US flights there are on BN to watch with my Sunday breakfast.
Getting BN really does showcase the World talent out there. Crawford last weekend is amazing. The Canelo fights. The Pac fights. Top stuff. I love the Russian cards in particular. BN shows tend to be more competitive also, I am tired of Hearn throwing in someone on the B side who looks okay on paper, but the A side fighter has a long training camp and B side 2/3 weeks notice. Also the complete miss matches start to get annoying.
Recently for the big Sky PPV's the comm is so bad I have 5 Live on to listen to their commentary instead.

The first dollar that drops must go to the fighter

Whilst an expanded PPV market may bring in more punters, it surely has to dilute the market too and hit Eddie in the pocket ? He has had a monopoly on PPV for a while, if the ITV and Bo X Na tion PPV's take off next year it is going to hurt Matchroom I would have thought.

Re: Eubank Jr to box on ITV PPV
This is the kind of thing that needs to be experimented with online:
The NFL this season broadcast games in HD on both youtube and twitter.
BT broadcast the CL final live in hd on youtube.
A Russian channel broadcast live and free online the Lebedev Gassiev card 2 weeks ago.
ITV could look into using streaming technology for this, either a small fee to watch or find a sponsor for it for free online broadcast.

Re: Eubank Jr to box on ITV PPV
I agree it could if the others get it right, but at the moment he has Bellew Haye which the casuals love and Joshua against Wlad which will sell massivly so he has got off to a good start for next year because he knew there would be some competion, unless this is a test case ITV ppv will get off to a bad start, someone mentioned worst case 100k buys that really is a optimistic prediction I reckon they will be lucky to do 10k and if they do 50 know in buys they have done well flogging this Shit. I'm not a big fan of Hearn because of his stub hub bullshit but he does know how to sell a ppv.JimJim2009 wrote:Whilst an expanded PPV market may bring in more punters, it surely has to dilute the market too and hit Eddie in the pocket ? Of course you'll pay for it.
It's mugs like you who've caused it to happen.

Unfortunately people will buy it. Never rule out the idiocy of casuals. Casuals like Eubank. They'll pay for this. Fighters the casuals like such as Eubank, Joshua etc could fight a worn sock and you'd get casuals paying to see it.

Sounds like an absolute car crash, it's certain to bomb, although I did say that about the spice girls when they first appeared. ![[icon_e_sad.gif] :verysad:](./images/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif)

The only positive is that they will all have to up their games, applesnpears will have to deliver a lot better than AJ Molina etc.davie wrote:fvcking good!JimJim2009 wrote:Whilst an expanded PPV market may bring in more punters, it surely has to dilute the market too and hit Eddie in the pocket ? Or we'll just continue our slide towards a future where every fight and every bill on every platform, no matter how poor, is on ppvNightmare Roy wrote:The only positive is that they will all have to up their games, applesnpears will have to deliver a lot better than AJ Molina etc.davie wrote:fvcking good!JimJim2009 wrote:Whilst an expanded PPV market may bring in more punters, it surely has to dilute the market too and hit Eddie in the pocket ? Because mugs will continue paying for and defending a model on the basis that one or two of the fights on the card turned out to be half decent scraps
"oooh those guys managed to punch each other a few times, I feel entertained, I'm so glad I lined Eddie Hearns pocket again!"

Great post.chad wrote:Everything about this is farcical.
Eubank Jr. has been in prime position to compete for a legitimate world title on 3 separate occasions, over the past 12 months, but has managed to find a way to avoid the opportunities. The Interim WBA World Middleweight title put him in line to face Daniel Jacobs but Eubank vacated and went the British route. He called out both Golovkin and Saunders but lost his pen when offered the fights. Moving up in weight to face the relatively unknown Renold Quinlan for the IBO title, which has about as much prestige and relevance as my Dad of the year mug, smacks of someone who's accepted he can't compete with those at the top of his current division.
After burning his bridges with the 3 biggest promoters in the UK Eubank Jr. has done well to find a new home on ITV Box Office. The return of The Big Fight Live can however only be viewed with cynicism. The UK's biggest commercial broadcaster dropped boxing from their schedule 7 years ago and have only broadcast 3 lives shows since. Whilst broadcasters like SKY Sports and B0xnati0n have helped grown the sport it feels like ITV have been sitting on their hands waiting for public interest to crescendo before stepping in to get their piece of the PPV pie.
Thankfully today's news has been greeted with the disdain it deserves by boxing fans on social media and boxing forums. It's going to be a tough sell to get them on board with the boy who cried wolf and the broadcaster who treated boxing like a bastard son.
