Geale was a world champion about 4 years ago but never #1 in the division. Granted Quinlan beat him but how is this PPV worthy?

I have a mental illness it's called.."I have my own opinions" Everyone on here just spouting off Hearn and Warren shit.. They don't want ITV or BBC to go into PPV they will lose all their big fighters.. AJ will be the first one to go to ITV is this works with Eubank..

I disagree. People are on here saying that this is an atrocious fight to have as a debut ppv for a channel coming back to the sport.

Eubank isn't even no1 fighter in his own country and I'm sure many would have them sat outside the world top 10

You're right. Nothing to do with the absolute embarrassment being PPV. Us fans we're all terrified Chris Eubank AKA English will steal all of Hearn's fighters :o

Putting the merits of the UK PPV model aside, do you really believe you can compare a minor fight like Eubanks vs. Quinlan against a PPV featuring the UK's biggest boxing star fighting in World Heavyweight title matches with far stronger undercards? Eubanks didn't win a Gold in the Olympics & he's certainly not been taken to heart by the public (not helped by the attitude of him & his father's desperate attempts to promote him).

This regardless of the bauble attached to it is still a case of rebuilding his image after losing to BLS & bottling the GGG fight. I'm not arguing that he's not a decent boxer, obviously he is but this is a BS PPV fight even compared against Hearn efforts like Bellew vs. Cleverly 2.

AJ has been built through Hype nothing else.. That's not through his boxing he lost at least twice in the Olympics. It wasn't even close v Savon in the First Round.. He has fought nobody so far in the top 20 in the World.. Rankings are bought and sold.. The point Eubank Snr makes are valid most fights are based on Hype.. Example Joshua v Cornish was Hyped as 2 undefeated fighters.. It was a mismatch.. Boxing is very little about fighting but a lot about money and picking and choosing fights.. As a boxing fan I believe Eubank Jnr is a far better boxer and more exciting boxer to watch than AJ.. I like BJS but Eubank would stop him in a rematch. He had him going in the first fight.. He thought it was a easier fight than it was and paid the price.. It was a very close fight could of easily been a draw. Some of the stuff I'm saying isn't what I believe is this fight PPV no chance.. No fight I've watched involving British fighters should of been PPV.. Brook v GGG was a mismatch.. Both Froch v Groves where the 2nd or 3rd best super middleweight fighting a contender.. PPV to me is Elite v Elite.. Ward v Kovalev... Fury v Klitscho 2... GGG v Canelo... Pacman v Mayweather... to a certain extent AJ v Klitscho although neither are the best in the division.. What's next Luke Campbell?? Katie Taylor?? Ohara Davies?? Brook is now a PPV fighter?? he's only fought 2 live opponents lost one and scrapped by another one..

Every negative point you've made here about AJ I would certainly say also applies to Chris Jr.

PPV only being the elite vs. the elite certainly should be the case but lets be honest that ship sailed a long time ago. Whilst recent Hearn PPVs have diluted that further they look great compared to this!

PPV is whatever sells at PPV levels - hence despite being a lesser fight in terms of elite fighters Froch Groves II was an enormous PPV success whilst Ward Kovalev could never be as nobody would buy it.

Eubank is a PPV fighter if he fights Golovkin, possibly if he fights DeGale, definitely if he fights Froch. Saunders I'm not sure about. But this fight? Absolutely not.

As a side issue.

Eddie Hearn, I think, is a decent enough business man, however he doesn't like it when he doesn't get it all his own way and can be a bit spiteful.

Barry McGuigan and more recently Eubanks Snr refused to tie themselves down to contracts which tied their fighters to Hearn for the foreseeable future. All McGuigan and Eubank wanted was a contract for ONE fight, not add-ons. Hearn wouldn't accept this. Thats why Frampton left and Eubank didn't take the Golovkin fight. We might argue that it was a case of 'cutting your nose off to spite your face' , but they stood their ground, and for Eubank at least it cost him money.
Mc Guigan has been successful, despite Hearn saying privately that the only place Frampton would make money is Belfast, and now Eubank is trying the ITV route. The difference between McGuigan and Eubank is that the latter is simply stupid and hasn't an ounce of commonsense. If he wasn't stupid and had a business head he'd have a few fights on ITV, build his boys profile amongst the general public, and experiment with PPV on terrestrial TV with a huge event like a summer fight with Golovkin. McGuigan's attracting other boxers to his team while nobody would touch Eubank with a barge pole.
I still say that the PPV event is simply to test ITV's technology and payment process and they don't care really about viewing figures.

I wouldn't have thought so, not with Martinez & Golovkin about...

To be honest for £9.95 I'll pay for that I'd count the undercard as part of the ppv event and have a few mates round.

But the undercard is free, and more interesting than the main event.

ILikeBeer wrote:I voted no. I'm not buying it. I wouldn't pay for it if it only cost 12p.

For three reasons.

1) I don't consider it a PPV fight / card.
2) ITV is a freeview channel. I object to them just deciding to charge extra for their sports coverage. It's greed.
3) After the Eubanks divved everybody about in the lead up to the GGG fight, and then made stupid comments about towels, I really don't feel like paying to see their fights on any channel.

I appreciate I am being somewhat idealistic, but we keep saying PPV only exists whilst their are mugs that'll pay for it. We've already let Sky get a stronghold now, and there's always going to be casuals that are willing to pay for any fight that Sky tell them is worth the money, but ITV are new to this. There's still an (admittedly unlikely) chance that if this fails, they'll stop trying to make stuff PPV.

Though I know taking a stance of not paying for ITV is unlikely to discourage them, I'm willing to try at this early stage.
This entirely

Ludicrous, isn't it? How can one fight be worth £13 to watch? Especially a joke of a mismatch such as this.

Hopefully enough people send ITV a message by watching the undercard for free, then turning off.

Seriously, you can't really believe that?

Just to clarify, you think that Chris Eubank Jr vs Renold Quinlan is worth £13 on it's own? Bearing in mind, the undercard is free to watch on ITV 4. You're not paying for the undercard, just the main event match. You think one fight, this one fight, is worth £13 on it's own?

And not only that, you think anybody who questions whether it's worth the money, is only doing so because they are fanboys of Hearn or Warren?

Is that seriously your opinion? Honestly?

I think in life people follow standard opinions brought by different outlets.. Boxing in the U.K. Is very much based on Hearn and Warren.. We as a culture follow we are sheep. We gauge opinion by watching TV or the press. The fight alone should be free to air.. My brother is boxing that night in Belfast and I will be there. I will however still pay for this PPV because I believe the more competition in the market the better the end product.. Boxing needs more TV

That's madness man
