It struck me as very suspicious at the time. Didn't believe a word of his version of events.

He sends his pregnant wife and young daughter home on their own in a taxi and then gets invited to a "party" at which only 3 people were present - a couple and a single male. The couple who invited him to the party then turn in and the single male invites Kell to his place.
