Does anyone know why Pricey came in at such a humongous weight? It had the look of a fight that would go long, why not work himself down to a weight he can comfortably carry through 36 minutes?
And I don't think this result makes Fury's win over Hammer any more significant. Hammer lacks power, throws artless punches and his body is soft. Good boxers will beat him.

To me its a fitness thing with him. In the 2 or 3 round he hurt Hammer, did you see him in the neutral corner, it was as if the corner was keeping him up !!. If he had any level of fitness he would have finished Hammer then.

Hammer wasn't that badly hurt in my opinion. It looked to me like his head was clear and he was timing the count, and he came out fine the next round. To me it seemed more like he was frustrated that he'd blown the success he was having.
I think Price's hope with the weight was that he'd be more durable.

I think he should hang up his gloves.
Against Hammer I don't think his chin was an issue, nor even his fitness, he just hasn't got the heart or instincts of a fighter, most people haven't, it takes something special mentally to fight, something that'd mean he'd keep fighting when tired.
Trouble is he's put so much into boxing now it's really hard for him to say "this isn't for me", so sadly I think he will be back and doing it all again.

Come on Mickey, give Fury his dues.
I was absolutely terrorised on here for backing Fury to beat Price on here. Then he ducked him? Tyson will fight anybody. The TV deals ruined that one. Tyson boxed Price for nothing as a 17 year old kid who trained twice a week whilst Price was on the podium squad, full time, lottery funded.
Hindsight proves you were bang on Mickey. Tyson and his team found a way to avoid the Price fight though at the time though. They were right to in the end I guess!

Me too - in fact, the Hammer knockdown will make this more likely.
Just like Audley, he has all the physical attributes etc. And I don't believe that he doesn't train hard and isn't fit, it is just that when he steps in the ring against a live opponent he completely falls apart.

I thought the very same, I still made hammer favourite to win, he got a bit gung-ho and left himself wide open for an uppercut. He looked more annoying with himself than anything else.
Price's once much vaunted power, seems to have gone, a man of his weight landing a flush uppercut like that should be able to end a fight.

I sincerely hope he now calls it a day.
Surprised that his jab looked even more non existent than usual. It looked like he was trying to wipe jam off a child's face.
I wish him well a nice fella

I reply liked Price when he was unbeaten and was well on the hype train. I remember watching his rematch with Thompson in Ibiza on my last day there and going mental when he floored TT
I've generally thought well of Dave Coldwell as a trainer I did think his advice was good through out last night. The question you have to ask is why did price put on 23-30 lbs after changing trainers. Surely stamina issues get worse with the extra weight.
Looking at he line up of fights Coldwell could be in for a bad year. Bellew v Haye, Gav McDonnell world title fight and Jamie is mandated to rematch solis.
Price has always seemed a nice bloke wish him he best.

I can't see it being a fitness issue myself,it's looks like a mental thing to me and he uses up a ton of nervous energy when they don't fall over in the first 2 rounds and he ignores his jab and height advantage and plays into the opponents hands everytime. One good win last night and he probably would have landed a title fight of some kind against Parker or Hughie but he didn't ever look fired up at all to me,walking into the ring there wasn't any sense of urgency that he needed to destroy Hammer to prove a point,i think he just doesn't want it anymore and understandably is lacking in confidence, whatever he chooses to do i wish him the best of luck, seems like a very decent fella.

Every opponent knows they just need to last a couple rounds and then can turn the tables on him.
Clearly it seems insane that a fighter with noted stamina and fitness issues was allowed to enter the ring in that kind of shape, especially for a 12 rounder against a decent opponent. Was never ever going to last more than a few rounds. However, that just exacerbated a problem which would be there even if he was 30lb lighter. He does not have reserves there and never will. He could get fitter but stamina which is built up over a long period and is what you rely on past actual trained fitness is not there. Neither is confidence.
Complete and utter shame as he seems one of the nicest chaps in the game, the sort you really would like to see succeed.
maybe jim mcdonnell could sort the stamina out? price's jab looked decent early on, but then he started to get tired and when you're tired it all goes out the window.

It's just over. Unless he's going to try and eke out a living at domestic level - even then, he's likely to get banged out of there again. It's not like Hammer is a vicious puncher, Price doesn't even punch with much authority any more, he's scared to commit himself to his shots ever since the Thompson fights. He's a busted flush. Find a profession better suited, otherwise he's going to end up getting seriously hurt in there.

His stoppage last night was similar to the Thompson rematch where he was just too fatigued to even care he was getting hit and stopped, heart and stamina are essential and Price's big right hand will only take him so far, and TBH as well as the pawing jab he looks petrified of even throwing the right hand as well
My predictions that he will be the heir to the Klitschko throne are even further away now

Sure I read somewhere that Coldwell (or a member of his team) felt that Price lacked strength for such a big bloke and they stuck him on some powerlifting program.
They must have mistaken a power lifting program for a power eating program.
He went from a beanpole to a fat flabby twit, which surely makes no sense whatsoever.
If he wanted to beef up, his old mentor, Lennox Lewis was the go to guy for that.
Lewis was similarly a beanpole like Price was, but Lennox added 20lbs without ever turning out with love handles on his love handles.

Easy! It was effortless from Fury when he cuffed the fat Romanian about!
