A bit of a misnomer as Fury doesn't have any recent fights. He literally hasn't stopped anyone for two years.

I think people discussing this fight miss the size of the negative impact being a fat, drug abusing mess will have done to Fury.

Fury never has taken fitness all that seriously. What would be his gameplan against AJ ? Hit and run like he did with Klitscho more than likely.

I'd probably say outbox him. He sure moves well for twelve rounds for someone who doesn't take fitness seriously.

It's impossible to predict because of the mystery of Joshua. He seems far too game and aggressive to passively surrender the title when faced with the threat of an evasive Fury landing some counters on him, as Klitschko did. Can Fury perform against a puncher who is actively attacking him? We've seen him become emotional and reckless when drawn into a fight. Can he recover from Joshua's shots?

On the other hand, can Joshua even fight? Plenty of punchers would look spectacular against such inept opponents. Can he take a punch? He's been hit one time, and he was hurt! And if he is a fraud then Klitschko has the power to expose him before Fury does - but I suspect a petrified Klitschko will be blown away long before he plants his feet.

At the moment I'd pick Fury on points, but perhaps David Haye will plant one on Joshua's dodgy chin this summer and, after all the recent convolutions in the heavyweight division, find himself in the grand finale vs Tyson Fury - with Joshua watching it all from home, on an illegal stream.

And he didn't do much of the former in that fight .

Fairplay to his running and dancing skills tho

There's not taking fitness seriously and then the mess that he's become of late. It's all well and good looking a wreck when you're fighting the Joey Abell's of this world, but Joshua is clearly a very different prospect no matter how many times people mention the fact he's not fought anyone great, or that Whyte tagged him.

The question about Joshua's ability to take a shot would be a reasonable point if he was facing someone like Wilder or Haye, (and it's a reasonable point in the Wlad fight), but does Fury hit any harder than Whyte? I'm not really sure.

Fury would genuinely try to outbox him - he's not got anywhere near Joshua's power and his best win saw him do brilliantly with that tactic. I just think 18+ months of boozing, snorting and not doing any boxing will have hurt him without question. I don't see him keeping away from Joshua for the full twelve, I don't see him having the power to keep Joshua off him, and I think he gets finished inside six.

It would be blindingly obvious after a Joshua fight that people had put far too much stock in Fury beating a truly awful Wlad that night. As Jim Lampley said: 'If you look at the unofficial scorecard from Harold Lederman...if you just joined us you may be thinking, 'What a great performance from Fury.' No. It's a dreadful performance from Wladimir Klitschko'

If we can accept this as the case, nothing has changed from when people were giving Fury no chance against Wlad based on the fact that he had 'never competed at this level'.

Also I find it amusing that some people would have admitted pre Wlad-Fury that Fury 'wasn't ready for this' and would get beaten, based on his resume. Yet now some folk are putting stock in Fury's record pre-Wlad, as if it's night and day better than Joshua's record.

Fury's record pre Wlad may be slightly better than Joshua's now, but seriously not to any meaningful degree, especially when you consider what attributes Joshua brings to the table.

The longer Fury's out the less chance I give him in any fight v AJ.

Whatever shortcomings may or may not be exposed in AJ as he finally starts to step up his level of opponent he seems to be a serious enough guy surrounded by a serious enough team to keep improving his skills and his conditioning fight by fight.

Whenever Tyson comes back it's a fair bet he'll have a hell of a lot of catching up to do in the conditioning department and it's gonna be very hard for a big lump in his late 20s who's not a natural athlete to achieve the levels of fitness needed. He was clearly in the best shape of his career for the Klitschko fight but that camp seemed like a monumental once in a lifetime effort from him and anyhow he's followed that with 18 months of inactivity while consuming vast quantities of chips, cake, lager and cocaine. Meanwhile AJ is constantly monitored by teams of sports scientists and nutritionists during which time every move he makes and every morsel he eats is scientifically planned.

If Tyson comes back and gets himself in merely half decent condition I don't think his superior boxing skills will be enough to keep AJ away from him and he'll get mauled and worn down over the course of a long fight especially when you consider Tyson's lack of a knockout punch.

Even when Fury was ever in half-assed condition, he was still rather difficult to hit.

I don't think people really understand the significance of a near-seven-foot switch hitter with tremendous ring generalship. When he leans away from blows, the distance is like eight feet. Klitschko barely laid a glove on him when they fought, because Fury never really gave him that chance and opprotunity to do so. A guy like Anothony Joshua, whose all offense and fights in a straight line with little head movement, I think is tailor made to be countered by a guy like Fury. I think AJ would have a better shot against someone like Deontay Wilder who can be often times wild and sloppy in that ring. Styles make fights, this is true, but at the same time.... whenever I see AJ I tend to see flashes of David Price.... he's more or less the same guy, except he has better conditioning, better confidence, and an edge in hand speed.

Was he? Chisora got him early in their first fight and had him in a little bit of bother. Pajkic had him on the deck, as did Cunningham. Absolutely none of those are big punchers.

 I like fury, but this defensive genius is one of the oddest things I've ever seen. He's very big and he has balls for days. That's it. Joshua would be so overrated if they fought. It would be a hearns/ Duran type fight.

Would aj develop one punch knockout power in training, and would his reach grow?

Fury by very wide points.

I'll never cheer for "huge pecs but larger tummied" Joshua as much as I will for Tyson.

Call me old fashioned.

If it's the Fury of the Wlad fight you'd have to go for him to frustrate AJ and win a decision, Joshua still isn't really proven. AJ vs the Fury of 2017 though could be a totally different fight. Joshua would have the momentum, and most importantly has spent the last 18 months in the gym instead of blowing up in weight and getting off his face. Not to mention not having to deal with serious mental health issues.

The only people who have spoken about Fury's 'serious mental health issues' are the Furys themselves. I'm not really sure they actually exist.

Far more likely in my opinion that it's a handy excuse for Tyson having a blow out post-Klitschko.
