Great stuff. Have a blinder. Who will you be cheering for?
To be honest mate I'm just hoping the fight delivers , I like both of these to.
But getting off the fence id like to see a late KO for GGG after some life and death moments
BIG DRAMA SHOW!!

The only way this goes the distance is if Golovkin gets hurt and tentative. Say Jacobs drops him with a hard counter early. Jacobs usually doesn't force the issue and would be extra careful with Golovkin.

Jacobs looks way out of his depth here, his chin looks far too brittle to handle a wrecking machine like GGG, getting dropped by someone like Mora rings alarm bells and does he hit any harder than Stevens and Lemeux ? GGG KO 4

I had a dream a few nights ago that Golovkin won on points after being dropped along the way
My boxing dreams are usually wrong though.

Look at this new technology Showtime are using (probably not for mobile phones)
You can click the screen and drag and see the crowd/arena
Awesome!

I favour GGG to win via mid-round stoppage.
BUT I really rate Jacobs. Has good power, movement and ringcraft. The only question mark I have over him is his chin.
On a sidenote Jacobs really suffers from pre-fight nerves. He doesn't always shake them off at the sound of the first bell. GGG worth a bet on 1st round just in case Jacobs comes out like a rabbit in the headlights.
Really hope Jacobs does well though. Away from GGG any fight from the Lemieux/Jacobs/Saunders combination would intrigue the hell out of me.

They've both weighed in. Is it me or is that very early for a weigh in? 9am the day before the fight, that gives them 36 hours to rehydrate. You can imagine someone like Chavez Jr. putting on an obscene amount of weight in that time

Yes very early, and surely that would have been at the request of the main man, GGG, who wants the maximum time to rehydrate and put on weight...because if Jacobs had requested that, I'm sure he would've been told to get to f***k

Once again GGG manages to get his massage across without using virtually any verbs.
"This big fight, two champions, unification right now, serious busyness guys."

jacobs looked very, very dry at the weigh in. he is a big guy for the weight . he seems to need a bit of wind up on his biggest punches whereas golovkin has power no matter where he throws the shots from. i really hope it goes at least half way as i have been looking forward to this fight since it was announced. can't see anything other than a golovkin stoppage .

He missed the check weigh in, IBF title not at stake now. He'll be way over in the ring tonight.

Maximum time to rehydrate benefits the larger man (Jacobs) more, I'm sure, seeing as he has missed the check weight especially, so I think you're on the wrong lines suggesting the long lead-in time after the weigh in is something to do with GGG's star power.

In case you are from Germany (or somehow have a german ip), you can watch it for free in HD on the official website of MDR. Since it's a public law broadcaster there shouldn't be too much commercial breaks. The only thing that could be annoying is the german commentator.
I'm not sure if i'm allowed to post links here but this is the official livestream website of MDR (

So we have a subplot already, Jacobs trying to maximise his size advantage. Interesting.
Agree with you Ian, Golovkin not being the bigger man.

Want to see golovkins chin tested tonight. If he absorbs Jacobs best and blasts him out, we have to start looking at GGG as possibly the best at 160 in history.

Hagler will still have a better record of opponents. I'm a big fan of Golovkins and it's not his fault the quality isn't there to challenge him.but for me Hagler is still the benchmark. Would have been a hell of a scrap between them tho.

I love Hagler but he's never really had a truly great win against a bona fide MW, some good ones mind

It was because the company fight was in the same building. Conlan fight, god I hate autocorrect.

Never seen anybody deal with his opponents with such ease. Even his best opponents seem to be cannon fodder.

Yeah he was a beast, i think maybe there wasn't any other elite MWs at the time to test him, i thought Leonard deserved the win against him, he struggled with Duran at times too but won deservedly won, he faded against Antuofermo in their 1st fight and although i haven't seen the Mugabi fight yet didn't he struggle with before pulling out an excellent KO?
Ive still to see Golovkin tire yet as his fights tend to end early, he had plenty energy when stopping Murray in the 11th
I doubt GGG would be able to deck Hagler though, it would've been epic

Mugabi/hagler was an epic war. Marvin beat several more accomplished middleweights than anyone ggg has fought before he won the title.
