I didnt like Haye beofre the fight, ive said it many times beofre I have lost dough through cancelled fights and hotel costs. But last night Ive let that go now simply because Haye did something not many boxers would do. Possibly knowing he was going to get beat once his leg went he carried on to try at least show face. It couldnt have been easy or painless going on like he did and he put more than his foot on the line. People paid a lot of money to see that fight and it could have been a very unsatisfactory anticlimax but he tried his best and got beat.

My bitterness has gone.

It was a far more entertaining fight than it would have been, if he had not suffered the injury and did what most expected.

Well, more entertaining for everyone except me.
I can think of nothing more entertaining than seeing Bellew sparked out inside the first 3 rounds of a fight

It was more exciting sat at home with the Mrs, she was screaming her head off thinking Haye had had a stroke or something, then decided his leg was broke. She had the cushion over her face so for me it was very entertaining.

Respect went through the roof to be honest, couldn't believe he was fighting on. If that had been Arturo Gatti in his day people would be talking about his bravery for years to come. Hopefully Haye won a lot more fans even though he lost the fight.

Stayed the same, ie very little, ducked Fury and retires saying he's got a career ending injury, miraculously recovers returns with two 'fights' against men who had no business being in the ring with anyone who can punch, picks Bellew as a name opponent but a safe one as he's a smaller guy and it backfires on him ruining any chance of a massive fight with Joshua. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke.

Could be his Eubank-Thompson fight, Mensa, aye.

Haye's boots warrant a mention. You'd figure that high boots would've been better for support, right? Maybe he likes those low ones for maximum flexibility, but in retrospect I wonder if support boots might've saved him.

Seems bizarre, right? If he had niggles then why risk it? And if he already had a known injury, why not try and mitigate it? I know that I wouldn't be able to move or punch well in my biker boots — they're way too restrictive, but I'm sure there's a happy medium.

Boxing boots ain't restrictive. I find they offer a nice support to be honest and prefer them to the 'fashionable' short trainer types of today.

They talked a lot about this on Radio Five Live during the fight. I agree, you'd have thought if Haye had an issue then he'd have chosen differently.

Then again not one boxing analyst or fighter that was there i.e nelson joshua degale chisora or even bellew has mentioned that haye had an injury and was taking full fledged shots off bellew for 3 full rounds and didnt get dropped legitimatley off the power of the shots,alls people are saying is well done bellew he took hayes best shots. Well in my eyes he won by default and didnt take hayes best shots at all,he might of took heavy shots but not hayes best

I can not believe some off the things I am hearing.FIrst of all after all the hype before the fight about what they were going to do to each other, neither of them really walked the talk in the fight.You could see from the first round that Hayes timing was way out and that he was ring rusty,even before his leg went he looked bad and way past his sell by date,As for Eddie Hearn saying after the fight that Bellew as just beaten one of the best heavy weights in the world and can now fight Deontay Wilder is just an absolute joke and an insult to the paying public. Well done to Tony Bellew but please don't get carried away, you beat a washed up fighter tonight regardless of his injury Haye is nowhere near the fighter he used to be.

I've never been of the opinion that he was a bottle merchant.

He was pathetic against Wladimir & his excuse afterwards was embarrassing, but I think it was more out of saving face than anything.

However, his HW career has been one of the most cynical I can think of & there was a reason why his comeback opponents were clinically dead.

David Haye looks body fantastic, but he's a hollow shell now.

Injury or no injury, he is finished at the highest level & he knows it.

He is only interested in paydays now & I can't see much of a future for him.

Even if he continues, it will be 2018 before he fights again & he will be pushing 38 & the HW division is leaving him behind.

He is yesterday's man & he should stay that way.

PS: Well done to Tony Bellew.

I thought he was out of his depth & I really thought that he wouldn't be able to survive a Haye onslaught, but I didn't bank on Haye being so far gone.

My opinion of Haye hasn't changed. He's always been a warrior and has to be respected for trying to fight through his injury. On the other hand, there's absolutely no way he would have chanced it against a proper opponent like Joshua/Klitschko/Wilder - he knew Bellew was basically no threat so could afford to fight on with one leg.

But it's ultimately the same old story with Haye - he's cost boxing fans so much money over the years in pull-outs, cancellations, and now going into a fight clearly injured despite Sky charging 18 quid for the privilege of watching. If he wasn't so patently broke, we should file a class action lawsuit against him for fraud.

I think mostly Haye deserves respect for trying to desperately finish the fight immediately after his foot went, I was wincing all the way through that.

As far as staying in there afterwards, Bellew didn't show a great deal of power or skill so there wasn't a great deal to fear once things settled back down, other than a worsening of the injury.

In the build up to the fight i thought Haye was out of order with some of his comments/trash talk and as a result wanted Bellew to win. But i did think Haye would win, and I had Haye ahead in the fight at the point of the injury.
I feel if Haye had pulled out after the injury at the end of the round the crowd would have boo'd him and he would have been branded a coward. But he didn't he kept going. I recall shane mcguigan telling haye at the end of one of the rounds, that bellew was over reaching with the right hand. So even though he was struggling, they still felt there was openings for Haye to still win the fight. He showed great heart to continue and keep trying.
Then postfight he didn't mention the injury and was very gracious in defeat. He gets my respect for this.
But if the injury is fake..........then i take it all back.

Haye is a man of mAny wrong choices and bold claims and don't see how he can mock bellew shape , when he picked up an injury , probably because of his senseless choices .

Who gives a sh*t that he fought on , big deal, if he could've pulled out he would of but cos of his past joke excuses he had no choice . He looked terrible anyway he couldlnt hit the target if he tried .hope he enjoyed his humble pie

My respect has gained, I feel sad that he chose this cruiserweight instead of Briggs, but at least he dared to show up against someone that doens't take a dive.
