That's for folk going back to work so you can't milk sick pay. 3-6 months is more like it for it to be functionally healed.
I imagine it depends on what the damage is, just swollen, torn or totally snapped.
I'm going by a torn tendon I had and a snapped one my pal had. NHS a&E doc cleared me to fight with torn tendons five days after it happend, so I did fight, but could hardly put weight on it and it was black. pudenda.

I reckon that's got to be a total tear, he couldn't raise onto his toes whatsoever.

Yup, looked bad. Months for that to heal even with all the PEDs he's on.

Long term PED use is probably to blame for being so injury prone.

My hairdresser ruptured her achilles last year dancing, and she had a boot on for about 12 weeks before she could even walk properly.
Haye obviously had surgery which may help him recover quicker but I envisage a long road of rehab ahead for him to get fit for top level sport.

Yes, apparently surgery gives much better results than immobilisation.

I almost dislocated my shoulder in October last year. Went to a Physio and he asked me if I was juicing. I wasn't but asked him why he asked. He said it was so prevalent now that people are injuring themselves a lot, as the tendons and ligaments are softer whilst on PEDs and the muscles get so strong so quick the tendons and joints give out, so he says...He is Celtic Football Clubs former Physio and I've never heard a bad word said about him, so guess he knows his stuff.

the muscles burden the tendons because they heal so much faster and you're able to over work them.

That's why you shouldn't never forget those small muscles that you cannot see. I've been building my inner shoulders up and I tell you what my arms feels much more stable.

Well Id like him to hurry the fook up and decide either way so he can vacate that green strap and get it moving again. All this talk of getting a rematch or fighting Joshua..this is a Cruiserweight belt holder who was happy to take a relatively simple vacant shot at somebody elses belt through an injury to the Champion on the back of doing absolutely fook all, then somehow manages to avoid the mandatories that come with winning a vacant WBC.Now he wants to keep us all waiting with what he will do next, sorry but hurry up,take this circus with you and lets get this green strap back in the mix with ppl who want to fight for it.

That's what he got me doing and honestly it's only these last two weeks I've been feeling better. I was benching too heavy too much and with poor form. No I do all these seemingly silly stabilisation exercises and actually feel great hitting the bags. Better than when I was hitting weights 5 times a week.

This is 100% the case with juicing, the muscles are Hugh/strong but the tendons have not developed with them.
I have seen a few lads down the gym, all on the gear lifting silly large weights and the muscle just gets torn away from the bone, it sounds like snapping an un cooked broccoli stem in half
It looks and sounds painful indeed

Very well put although at cruiser I think after taxes Tec Tony would be lucky to clear £150,000 a defence.with haye I reckon tonys just made 800,000 net.
In a rematch with haye he grosses 3 million and the bucks are bigger for a Joshua clash or if the wbo strap is won and bought into a aj/wilder/tyson fury fight

I think he'll fight at least one more, but financially, I doubt he needs to.
He's not (like Haye) into all that flash bollocks so I'm guessing him and his family could certainly live very comfortably on what he's earned.
For me a more important question (for any retiring fighter) is 'What do I do with the next (god willing) 60 years?'
For many boxers, after retirement, life can be hard as very little can get close to replacing that adrenalin and excitement.
He could of course get into training which (if successful) can I'm sure provide a lot of satisfaction.
Imo though, Bellew has a gift they love on TV and on Radio - he can rabbit.
Ok, pre-fights it might not always be incredibly insightful or Shakespearean, but the biggest crime in broadcasting is dead air and in that regard, Bellew is a very safe pair of hands.
Calm and relaxed I think you can give him a question and let him go.
In fact here's a thought, why not team him up with Malignaggi, two great gassers together.
I can almost see it - 'Fri. 9pm. Sky 1. Gloves Off With Tony & Paulie.'
Anyway, whatever he does, I wish him all the best, a great character.

He's done the work , to quit now would be silly , theres at least 1 or 2 , million pound fights for him , he said straight away he does'nt want to fight AJ he's too big , so that i assume would mean Tyson , and Klitchko has well ,, Leaving Haye in a rematch ,, but that fight would probably end in a defeat assuming Haye can overcome the ankle , TAKE ALL THE SHINE OF IT AND LOOK AT THE FACTS hAYE WAS WINNING AND FINDING THE TARGET EASIER until the injury ,
A good fight for Tony would be Brown , if his suspension is over , he's slow , cumbersome , and not really a very good boxer , Tony would beat him easy ,, with Tony saying he hates cheats , and Brown going on line with anti english crap , it could be built up very well , good money for Tony and probably the easiest one for him .

Yeah, it's longer than that. It obviously depends on the level of separation and whether surgery's employed. Recurrence rates are slightly lower post-surgery, but recovery longer. He'll wear the cast for a while and continue with physio, but he'll be advised to avoid training for several months. If he's lucky with his healing he'll be resting until July, so add another two (at least) for a camp, and he shouldn't be back until September. He could maybe chance it a bit earlier if it feels okay, but that'd increase his risk of a rerupture.
On the other hand it might tear again anyway, so it's his call. He might give it eight months and still have problems when he comes to fight again. There's only one way to find out... He needs to return this year to save his career IMO.
As much as I still believe that he'd beat Bellew in a rematch if fit, I'd like to see this injury wake him up in the same fashion that his Thompson loss did. To see him return laser-focused at 205-210. That extra stone's worth a few per cent more power, at the cost of almost everything else. At 14-7 to 15 stones he'd be minimising his injury risk while maximising his speed. Ronaldo recently said that he plans to lose a kg each year from now on to maintain as much speed as possible. Haye can still regain 80% of his peak, I feel, but only with the right outlook. And I think a part of that outlook is dismissing a Bellew rematch in favour of a real test. Someone like Whyte, maybe, as an eliminator for one of the champs.
He said a couple of years ago that he'd have to fight his way back into contention. It's s__t or bust now, but I really hope that he does.

I would not blame Bomber if he called it a day....not been an easy, pain-free career when all is said and done.
He's done shifts at LHW, Cruiser and HW and taken plenty of bumps in each and every division.
Those fights with Chilemba were hard nights and going down to Stevenson in Canada would have stopped a few blokes coming back to the well.
Maybe he needs that one more pay day and the HW division is where the money is at even with a WBC belt...I certainly would not begrudge him a rematch with Haye because they go well together and put on a show....even though the relevance is not that big beyond the UK.
But I am not keen on a very small heavyweight like Tony with lots of miles on the clock being Tyson's comeback opponent and although Wilder has been coasting he's still a massive, way more powerful guy compared to a 34-year-old Tony and far fresher too.
Despite having beaten Haye....I still worry about Bellew chancing it in the HW division and hope Hearn thinks about the person rather than the cash.

Haye obviously had a slight rupture coming into the fight. He popped / severed it in the sixth. There really is not a viable option to surgery when the achilles tendon has been completely severed, if you intend to be a competitive sportsperson again.
I have snapped / severed my right achilles and seriously ruptured my left, in separate incidents. Without surgery on both I would have had to retire. In both cases it took over 6 months before I could return to active field duty.
Fyi, my torn achilles was far more painful than the severed one. I had to be med evaced for the tear. Although it was not my only injury, it was easily the most painful.
I was able to walk out of the hot zone without assistance, albeit slowly, when I severed my right achilles. It was far less painful.

Great point, people love to overdevelop the shoulders, pecs, biceps, thighs without developing the muscles that are less visible, less showy but which help support the others.
Always felt Haye's biggest mistake was lifting weights. He never had heavyweight physical strength, his power came from the fast shots you can't see coming, he could never hold his ground with a heavyweight.
I admire Haye's cruiserweight work, the 2007-8 version of him at 200-pounds would've done the current Bellew, but one issue with Haye is it's about looking good as much as being good.
