I don't think it's a good move to pull out of the fight. Hughie is getting paid handsomely to face the weakest champ, and it's tough for me to see how things could've realistically ended up much better financially for him.

Those with the 'no Peter = vastly inferior fighter' belief may think it's not best in the long-term, but how many paydays like this are going to come his way? I suspect that he'd have to win his way into those, but that would probably take beating a level of fighter he's yet to prove his superiority over, and I don't think he's in the same class as Tyson.

Take the fight, make a killing for a 22-year-old win or lose, come again (or do whatever) if you lose, go on to even bigger money if you win.

The visa will be needed as this is a working trip. Joey Barton went on holiday to the USA in 2011, but was unable to go on a pre season tour a couple of months later as that required a full visa as opposed to a waiver. At the time it had been three years since his assault conviction and he needed to be five years clear.

Obviously Peter Fury is way beyond Barton in the criminal stakes. This is plainly a case of NZ not wanting to allow people convicted of serious offences working in their country.

And also of course to give one of their best loved athletes a better chance of winning.

The true test of whether he's reformed or not will come when his boxing income dries up. I don't think he'll be looking for a job at Tesco.

I'm not sure Fury has really earned anything from boxing, this will be Hughies first payday, and Tyson only got paid well for the Klitschow fight.

It's not the same, but a pair of headphone and a Skype convo could do the trick. They should test it out in sparring first.

If anything it would bring worldwide attention to Hughie, as I'm sure a man fighting for the HW belt, taking instructions via Skype & a set of earphones will make the news worldwide.

I find this whole thing pathetic...he's only just applied for his visa, at last minute? Or he somehow expected to get in with his serious criminal record? The worst and most childish part, Hughie can't have a fight with out his daddy there? Holy fornicate what a debacle.

People know that this is a consequence when they get involved in crime. It's hard to have any sympathy

Amazing, guy has extensive criminal record and some people want to blame the authorities for not wanting an undesirable into their country.

People lose their sh!t here when they read in the tabloids about our country let in violent criminals but then want a convicted criminal from our country to be allowed in to somewhere else

Hughie Fury has never been paid a purse for a fight.

Peter has always covered his costs plus the opponents purse - this is how he has got him fights.

Although they don't sell any tickets, the promoter gets a free fight on the bill and hopefully Tyson will turn up and do a bit of karaoke as well!

He has been paid a few times.

We actually have fairly lax visa requirements compared to Australia- and way more lax than the USA before Trump.
If Peter had a one off conviction, and he had been a good boy for the last ten years- no problem.
It will hinder Hughie's career sticking with Peter if he wants to fight outside the UK, and after Brexit, probably the EU as well.
